This is just an idea and I haven't done any research apart from looking at one web site. I'm not even sure I'll do it myself, but I want to gauge interest...

I was on a QantasLink flight recently and they'd a different in-flight magazine than the normal QF mainline one. In which, it has an ad for the Qantas Founders Museum in Longreach. I thought it may not be a bad idea to visit there or even have a bit of a SC run for extra bonus points.

The Museum runs a variety of tours, but the special ones are the 707 Restoration Tour and the 747 Secrets and Wing Walk Tour (hopefully, the only time you walk on a wing of a 747). If we've enough interests, perhaps we can even arrange a special group visit/rate.

QFOM - opening times and entry prices

Currently, I'm thinking the first weekend of December. Flight schedule looks like an early AM flight on a Saturday from BNE and return late afternoon.

Regardless of timing, is anyone interested in this?

Yeah it's a good museum. Don't go there expecting for it to be focussed on Qantas recent heritage, but go expecting to learn about it's beginnings.

The wing walk sounds like fun. I didn't partake when I was there with a couple of AFF'ers a couple of years ago. We did take the walk through the 707, but I think we were a little disappointed that it's basically been gutted inside and converted into an executive jet (I think it was last owned by one of the Sultans of Brunei or something).

I'm certainly interested in visiting Longreach again. Count me in as Interested.

Oh well, seems like I've missed the boat (for the cheap airfare). If I ever see one again, I may hook on to that.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I am still waiting for ICH to have a new property open at LRE, gimme those pointsbreaks

The North Gregory in Winton used to be alright, but it's a bit of a drive.

Wonder if the agricultursl college might have dorm beds free in Nov? :p

Qantas have just announced a Qantaslink sale until 1 June for travel over potential dates:

BNE-LRE - $65

Will have to work out my roster for then, but if all works out wouldn't say no to a points run to LRE.

Myself and a colleague scored a cheap BNE-LRE seats during October and will be staying at the Discovery Holiday Parks.

Cant wait to sample the wing walk.
