As soon as I ticketed my current DONE4 (~6 weeks ago), I put in an uggrade request for QF31 (J to F) on the 388 SIN-LHR with absolutely no expectation of success (I was QP PS at the time, am now QP NB).

Just checked the rez on the QF website, and while it still says "Note: An upgrade to First is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure", the seat allocation has changed from a J class one to 1A! No points deducted at this stage.

A look at checkmytrip indicates "Fare type: First", so my guess is that the request has been successful. :D (though I'm not counting any chooks yet).

Now, if so, does anyone know what I can expect, particularly mealwise, for this 2359 departure.

I'm flying NRT-SIN on JL tomorrow morning, then SIN-LHR tomorrow night (with a ~5.5 hour transit), so I presume my bag will be checked through, and maybe the second BP issued at NRT, but its no big deal if not (the BP that is, not the bag).

Thanks

Edit: PS. The flight seems chockers, all buckets showing 0 or C. Yesterday was similar except with J8 and D1

If it is SIN-LHR flight that leaves near midnight, you'll be offered a la carte supper service (including proper courses, a selection of light meals, desserts and cheeses available) followed by breakfast before landing in LHR. Snacks and petit fours are available throughout the flight.

Degustation selection will be unavailable.

Congratulations on your F upgrade!

I've done NRT-SIN-LHR-CPH recently and they did have my bag tagged and sent all the way to CPH.

May I request a trip report for those who haven't been in F on the A380?

Thanks for the info. Points deducted, and F BP in grubby mitt! :)

I'm taking notes for this entire trip with a view to converting them into a running TR. They need some refining at the moment. I'll provide a separate TR for the A380 leg anyway.

Now, just a little 7hrs 10 flight to SIN, followed by a 5hrs 30 transit before that flight.

Must say, the Sakura business lounge in the main part of T2 is far nicer tham my recollection of the one in the satellite about 6 years ago.

Congratulations on the Upgrade - nice for an ~14 hour flight.

I was thinking your F BP may gain you access to the JAL First Class lounge, but this appear not to be the case: (oneworld - Lounge Access)
Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. (First Class passengers may be accompanied by one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline).

Customers flying in Economy class on the domestic or intra-European segment to connect to or from a oneworld longhaul First or Business Class flight can also use the lounge applicable to the class in which they are travelling the longhaul segment.
