Huanggang Checkpoint between Hong Kong and China has opened and it claimed to only need to clear immigration once at the checkpoint.

Does anyone know how it works for people on Australian passport?

Furthermore, if you go to any of the checkpoints after your Qantas or Cathay Pacific service from Australia, going to Terminal 2 for a direct bus service is much more expensive. With a family of 2 or more, it is better to catch a taxi instead to the checkpoint.

If you want to travel cheaply, catch A33X then change at Tuen Mun for B15 bus.

If this setup is anything like Hengqin Port (Macau) which works under the same model, for non-PRC passports or non-SAR residents nothing changes.

The customs officers are co-located so you’ll first be seen by an HK officer who checks your passport and lets you through to a Chinese officer immediately behind who does the PRC checks. So no walks between the respective border post, but also no duty free as a result.

Haven't been to the checkpoint but it looks like it works similar to the juxtaposed border controls at the Hong Kong HSR station albeit the fact that it doesn't work with existing e-Channel enrollments.

Australian Passport Holders would thus need to go through manual immigration in both Hong Kong and mainland China.
