T-80 program - can someone set a simple program up?

Anyone out there with the inclination to prepare a T-80 time program?

I would envisage a simple program whereby you input a date and time which would spit out the T-80 point as a prompt for our calenders?

(FYI - T-80 is a QF seat allocation point, ie 80 hrs out from flight, where alot of online seats become available).

Any takers / suggestions?

in excel in a cell type in the date in your date format e.g. if aussie date
"dd/mm/yyyy HH:MM"

in another cell do =<cell with date>-3.33

it will give you the date/time 3.33 days (or close enough to 80 hours) before the flight

PaulC83 is on the right money.

Open up Excel and put the full date and time of departure in cell A1. Then, in any other cell, type in this formula:

=A1-3-TIMEVALUE("08:00")

and the cell will give you the time and date which is T-80.

For example, if you were departing Saturday 22 May 2010 at 11:05pm (2305h), then in cell A1, put:

23/05/2010 23:05

Then in any other cell, put the formula shown above, which should give you the answer:

19/05/2010 15:05

In theory, if you set up your flights in Outlook, you can also take advantage of Outlook's reminder system to ping you when T-80 is; all you need to do is set the reminder and choose one of the options that is in hours (e.g. Reminder: 1 hour), then change the value to 80. The only disadvantage to this is it won't actually tell you when T-80 is; it'll just give you an alarm when it does happen.

I just take the date - 3 days and then take another 8 hours - all in my head.

Having said that I have set up some outlook task reminders for this week re my ADL flights.

e.g.

• 17:00 on 29th May
  • Take 3 days to get 26th May 17:00
  • Take 8 hours to get 09:00 on 26th.
• 06:00 on 28th May
  • Take 3 days to get 25th May 06:00
  • Take 8 hours to get (-02:00 clock on 25th) 2200 on 24th.
• 16:00 on 2nd June
  • Take 3 days to get 30th May (-1st June) 16:00
  • Take 8 hours to get 08:00 on 30th May.

Maybe yes or maybe no - one has to firstly realise that 80 hours is also 3 days and 8 hours ...

True my original response is quite basic and its quite easy to do in ones head, but it did more or less answer the OPs question/request. However with a lot of emphasis on seat selection with the new system I am seeing a market here for a seat sniping tool ALA ebay sniping style on a subscription system..... I wonder if it would be easy enough reverse engineer all the URL functions on the seat selection page......

I changed my seat on an ADL-SYD flight this morning. At T-79hour-and-59 minute, there were lots of seats to choose from rows 4-10.

At T-79-hour-and-55 minute, there was no available seat whatsoever :!: from row 4 to row 15. What the?
