Hi all,

I am flying QF to SYD (from ADL) domestic, and then have a 5 hour break for a JQ flight (International). I can only check in 3 hours before? with JQ, so I have a 2 hour window to keep myself busy (as long as QF is on time...)

Any ideas of how to keep myself busy? I obviously have to get over to the International Terminal, I am only SG so I don't have anytime access to the QP.

Also I am assuming I can't check through and use the transfer bus? Its not a QF/JQ codeshare its a direct JQ booking...

regards,

PaulC

Your next fight is with JQ, so you wont have any problems with access to the QP. Your membership summary does show PS.

Read a book, listen to MP3's, watch a movie on an iphone or similar. That would be what I would do...

Does that mean I could sit in the Dom QP even though I am leaving Internationally on the JQ ticket? I never updated the profile because I qual SG this year but prob won't requal.

I haven't even looked at putting movies on my iPhone. Whats battery life like when watching movies?

I would go to the Qantas Museum at Syd Domestic, that should be good for 1-2 hours.

Then head over at T-3 to check in and sit in the QP at Int.

Thats a good idea, I have never gone in there before. That should kill some time!

And yes you can go o the domestic QP, not sure what you are going to do with the bags though.

  1. Being inbound on QF from ADL, you do have access to the Bus.
  2. If your booking ADL-SYD and SYD-yyy are on the same ticket (ADL-xSYD-yyy) you can check luggage in right through to yyy from ADL; check luggage at the Qantas "domestic Connection to international flights. You will still need to check-in at SYD T1 (More here: Flight connections)
  3. As mentioned, you do have access to the QP being SG. (JQ Qantas Club Lounge Access)

I regularly watch two tv episodes (42 mins each) on my journey to/from work plus a few calls and internet during the day. I would get down to about 50% at the end of each day.

Yeah I forgot about the museum, that's probably good for an hour... (I don't know about 2, I didn't think it was that big)...

Just quickly if the QF \ JQ flights are listed on two separate bookings, have you confirmed if you'll be able to interline your bags? Otherwise your options may be limited airside at T3 and for using the transfer bus.

The JQ connections page specifically says the two flights must be on the same booking for interlining.

Yep, hence the note:
... If your booking ADL-SYD and SYD-yyy are on the same ticket (ADL-xSYD-yyy) ...
Note the "Museum" is only open 9-5 Mon-Fri and closed on Public holidays.

One hour would indeed see it out ...

I have never been but often think about it when passing through.

I will need to set aside an hour soon.

Got to admit, I am surprised they would interline in the first place!

sadly they are not on the same booking as one was a QF sale fare and the other was a JQ sale/promo fare.

Can they be linked? I am assuming the answer is no...

Give QF a call and ask... You'd need to call QF to have them linked anyway...

One can always try, but I am not confident of the chances of this succeeding.

JQi interline seemingly begrudgingly and I believe the original bookings need to be made together to exist on the same PNR.

I believe that there is an observation deck for public access.

Yes there is an observation deck and the views are great. Sadly have not been there for years.
