Australian Cricket Season 2026-27 (150th “Ashes” Melbourne March 2027)

[SydneySwan]

42-6

[Cossie]

42 for 6......... think they want it over and to go home, or maybe have a round or two of golf.

But the pitch changed dramatically overnight.

[SydneySwan]

Australia now declining singles. WTF?

[drron]

If this was a boxing match I would throw the towel into the ring.

[TheRealTMA]

Where’s Boland to save us this time?

[Pushka]

Where’s Boland to save us this time?

Well he’s not a batter though.

[TheRealTMA]

Well he’s not a batter though.

In the current team, he looks like a better one!

[Daver6]

Well he’s not a batter though.

Neither are the first six....but boy can he bowl!

Maybe not officially but his 40 as nightwatchman in the second test was only 10 times the runs Marnus made at Cape Town.

Some players test careers may have ended at Cape Town but I am also thinking that perhaps some or all of the selectors should be replaced as well.

[Pushka]

Twice now they've ditched Boland after a successful match the previous one. Disgraceful. And this time it has come to bite them on the backsides hugely. Betting that Smitth is not the popular person right now. Marnus giving lip on the field has received justified Karma.

I wouldnt say careers ended, but certainly should be dropped. Go back to 1st class cricket and find some form.

In 'the old days' Sheffield Shield cricket was played all through summer with the occasional one day format with pretty much the same teams. Then came the big bash a few years ago. That attracted the crowds so that dropped into the prime November - February period and Sheffield shield was tacked on each end. Then came IPL and money. And then follows the demise of quality Test match players. The ones doing well are those who also do well in limited overs cricket and then there are the wannabes.

[Happy Dude]

mmmm. Well. At least we got some exposure to chasing a gettable 4th innings total.

Had we had put them away at 6/110 in the 2nd test, things may have been different. Or maybe not. The batsmen let the bowlers down then and did so again in the 3rd test. So many questions to be asked, yet again, going into our summer. Surely the first questions are aimed at the selectors and the coach? Seems like we've not got the skills to earn a win or even shore up a draw.

The Kiwis are dishing it out to India atm. After our test loss to Bangladesh on home soil, and this batting form, they must be confident.

No they’re not.
India won the T20 series 3-2, whilst the ODI and Test Series haven’t started yet.

Hammered them in the last two games, dead rubbers but that's the nature of T20. The other games were mostly close so could have easily gone the other way. See how they go in the Tests and ODIs but if they bring some form over, they'd be looking forward to bowling at us for sure.
