Virgin Australia lounge in Cairns

Looks like the same sign since April 2025 in post #68 above

Yep, been there for at least 6 month, or April as you've pointed out. Same operator as their international lounge
Will appear on here when open: AUS Airport Lounges | Escape Lounges

It's now been almost a year since that sign was first reported! Anyone have any updates on the new lounge?

Paid a visit to the Escape Lounge in the international terminal.
Asked at the front desk what's happening with the Domestic Lounge,
was meant to open last year, good luck this year.
Doesn't look like it's going to happen.

They must want a premium on the rent front. No doubt VA attempted to renegotiate post collapse but no dice.

If you wanr lounge access in CNS, fly Qf

If you wanr lounge access in Cbs, fly Qf

Unfortunately for us folk in ADL our direct options are slim pickings.
I’m up there for a few days in July and VA J return is just over $1200 direct.
Qf don’t fly direct so it’s around $2100 return and via SYD/BNE
No lounge is worth that.
Happy just kill a bit of time in the terminal at CNS

I heard the lounge space is now used by Uber drivers to rest while they cancel jobs…….I may have made that up

Executive Traveller is reporting that Plaza Premium will occupy the former Virgin lounge in Cairns and is set to open in early 2027.

They also plan to open a lounge at the Cairns International terminal.

And no.mention of "elite" entry opportunity. A right good kick in the teeth by VA to their elites flying from CNS.
