Alternative to TripIt = TripWaffle

Possible bug (or user error)? I have a trip with a string of empty days then one day with an event then a string of empty days. "Display empty days" setting is ticked. The first string is not displayed (so, NOT as per setting) but the second string is displayed as per setting. See below.
Any run of more than 7 empty days in a row gets shortened to one "13 days later" line, even with empty days switched on. Your first gap was 13 days, so it folded. Your second was exactly 7, so it showed.

This was poorly explained though, so I've turned it into an additional setting (under "display"):
"Shorten long empty stretches"

Thanks for flagging it.

Could the trip map, when incorporating cruises and railways, show better routings? For instance cruise legs not going overland and railway (in this case Malaga to Madrid to Barcelona) maybe follow Google maps routing? Neither will be exact, but better than present.

Flagging a couple of things related to display order of events. Both examples I've spotted when updating a past trip, but mentioning them in case there's an underlying issue.

First one, shouldn't the 9am train appear before the 11am check out?

Secon one is that I'm wondering about the logic behind placement of entries where no time is listed? In the example below, dinner would be better at the end of the list.

I'm now adding indicative times so shouldn't be an issue for me on future trips.

It's intentional here to show check-out first as it likely matches the order you'll be doing these things in.

Items with no time always go below timed ones. Among themselves they keep the order they were added. Rationale: if you had a flight on that day, you'd probably want the all day event(s) to come after it.

Happy to kick this around more though if you think there's room for improvement, of course.

Makes sense. Thanks.

No, if it's displaying as intended, all good.

Do tours that include a flight count towards flight stats? (eg. sightseeing, heli-tours, island flight transfers etc)

Just wanted to add my vote feedback for retaining this feature as is.

*Edited to reflect the fact that app development is not a democracy, but Tripwaffle are so responsive, it feels like one.

We've had another pass at the trip maps- should be better on all fronts now. Thanks for the prod.

Some more feedback:

(1) SUCCESS
Just successfully imported an SNCF carte d'avantage and it recognised it as a travel document and stored it accordingly.

(2) COMPLICATION
I had a duplicate train trip because I forwarded both the original booking and the subsequent exchange emails from SNCF Connect, but the exchange email didn't stipulate the journey it replaced, so the old trip wasn't deleted. I accidentally deleted the wrong trip, and there seemed to be no way to add it again. Forwarding the booking confirmation email again didn't seem to work: it seemed to ignore it, perhaps recognised it as already imported. I eventually re-added it manually.

(3) STATS LIMITATION
We may have touched upon this before but adding a rail trip from Vienna to Budapest didn't seem to add Hungary as a country I have visited or add to the country count.

(4) FEATURE REQUEST
Would it be possible to store a short list of frequently used private accommodation?
I often stay with my partner in Paris and use it as a base while we travel together. I also frequently stay with friends in Mios, near Bordeaux.
It would be nice not to have to type all the details of each address for every stay.
In "Paris, Barcelona & Vienna (2026)" for example, there were 4 stays at my partner's apartment and one with my friends.

(5) MAP LIMITATION
The map of my trip shows the TGV from Paris to Bordeaux but not the TER (regional train) from Bordeaux to Biganos Facture.
It looks as if I teleported from Bordeaux to Mios.

(6) CONTINUING FEATURE RECOGNITION
(a) I noticed the logos on train trips for the ticket providers which even distinguishes between SNCF and SNCF Connect.
(b) Google streetview integration - it's great - although also a little spooky - that it found and incorporated streetview images of my partner's apartment building in Paris and my friends' house in MIos.

I hope the headings are useful,. As always, thank you for your continuing hard work on such a useful app/site.

Fixed: after you deleted the single leg, the re-forwards were rejected as dupes. Now any missing legs will be re-added.

(3) STATS LIMITATION
We may have touched upon this before but adding a rail trip from Vienna to Budapest didn't seem to add Hungary as a country I have visited or add to the country count.

Fixed: a train, bus or ferry now counts the country it arrives in, not just the one it leaves from.

I'd suggest opening one of the existing stays and hitting the 'clone' button at the bottom. It copies the details into a new stay and you just pick the trip and dates for it to live under.

We currently dont do precise location lookups for past trips as it would be too resource intensive. Some locations may already be cached in the system though.

Many thanks for this valuable feedback 👍
