Also begs the question what airlines actually have a “wide” F seat/bed?

The widest beds I’ve slept on in the air were on JAL A350 F and Singapore Airlines 777 F. Both felt like actual beds and gave me more than enough space.

The pictures make my ironing board look wider, but yes, will have to wait on the actual dimensions. Perhaps it’s the pillows; I’m thinking about the current J pillow size when looking at this, but they might be more like a euro pillow.

I would say that the photos would have been taken in some sort of wide-angle to show as much of the mockup cabin as possible.
With that, the bed should look wider than it actually is in real life. So I do think there is probably some credit to the observation that the bed is going to be narrow.

The cabin isn’t being made for the bloggers or vloggers, and I’m sure QF know what they’re doing.

I would disagree with that. From the Qantas website, they compare the first-class suite as "boutique accommodation" which delivers "the ultimate in luxury"

In this design image, the bed looks slightly wider than the adjacent 55cm (22in) wide reclining armchair. They reference 2m (80in) for the bed length, but no width for the bed is given. It looks like the bed might be 10 cm or so wider than the seat, putting it at about 65cm wide, or approximately 4cm narrower than a standard infant cot mattress, thus giving it further clout as a true First class of bed

When we do see someone actually in the bed, you can bet it'll be the usually skinny supermodel candidate.

And who says you won't be able to sleep on those seats until someone has tried them? In any event always tradeoffs to be made. The bed is not the only thing that makes sleep difficult - a middle of the night transit tends to where you have to change planes also makes continuous sleeping more difficult for some - they probably are the target market. 200cm length seems reasonable, will the width impede sleep? Who knows yet.

Not sure you mean by ‘sleep on the seat’, sorry; I was just responding to your point:

Sure that’s the main marketing feature but once you’ve chosen to go non-stop I’d say a major selling point of the pretty expensive first class suite is what’s in the suite, and I reckon the thing that people would most want to pay for is a comfortable bed not the big TV or the chair.

Some people are able to sleep anywhere but for me the best bed on a plane is wider and longer and softer. If that armrest ends up being able to be lowered flush with to the bed level, giving more room, then the bed will be pretty much better than most.

The flights are very lengthy double sunrise. Most passengers will not be wanting to sleep for the whole of the flight so adequate seating for wake time will just as important as adequate bedding for sleep time which may be 2-3 sessions and the ability to move from one to the other as two separate facilities at will within the mini cabin without the bed having to be made up and unmade will be part of the enhanced “F” experience.

I think announce it once tickets go on sale, or Airbus has at least delivered one of the planes. Although I mainly blame the media, they’re the ones who keep publishing these regurgitated media releases as free QF commercials.
