Just amassed 2518 status credits and intended to gift Gold to a friend, only to discover bonus status credits earned through double status credit offers don't count. There's no mention of that in Qantas' general Platinum Benefits info, only that you need 2400 status credits credits, which must be earned on eligible QF and Jetstar flights (the same wording used with double status credit offers). What a scam! Who else has encountered this and did you have any luck 'appealing' the ruling? I'll be heading to the Consumer Affairs if they don't honour the offer...

It's been that way for years.

You obviously didn’t read the terms and conditions of the offer in the email and on the activation landing page, ie

Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements

From the DSC T&C:

Bonus Status Credits earned from this offer do not count towards Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus Reward and Status Accelerator/Challenge earn requirements.

Concur with all of the above.

Nothing new here. It's like people who don't put in for separate seat selection refunds if they need to pay for seat selection on CX when they cancel a ticket. If you didn't read the small print, it's not their fault.

I don't mean this to sound harsh, but your complaint would likely be dismissed with RTFM.

Yeah as above it has always been one of the terms of the DSC offers. You can see your count if you log in via the web (not the phone app) and check status activity under the status drop down menu.
It wasn’t always the case. I remember DSC counting to the loyalty bonus but that stopped many years ago now.

They will not honor the offer as there is no offer. No point going to consumer affairs.
For as long as I can remember DSC have never counted for the 2400SC
It’s exactly the same deal as the 50SC for every 500 earned, presumably you have come across this at some point in your membership year ?

This is what's posted in the app and online. No mention of not honouring DSC, only Eligible Flights (the same wording used when defining DSC conditions, which apply to attaining status). There's no asterisk or indication of other conditions applying. This is deceptive behaviour. If my business made customers offers without clearly pointing out the fine print, it would (rightfully) be vilified. Qantas needs to be held account and to the same standards small businesses are subject to. I've be Platinum since 2017, but this is the first time I've been able to exceed the 2400 mark. Honestly, I'm bloody disgusted..

Newbie error.

We’ve all made some sort of mistake in our travel-related plans.
No newbie, I've been Platinum since 2017, but I've never been close enough to the 2400 threshold to investigate further. Naïvely, I took QANTAS at its word, which I guess does count as a newbie mistake. The company is ruthless and if there was a viable alternative in Australia I would've been there long ago. Unfortunately, I'm still fond of the first class lounges and I prefer the Oneworld Alliance. Silly me…

It’s actually published in the terms and conditions of Qantas Frequent Flyer and the Platinum Bonus page online

When you earn 2,400 Status Credits from eligible flights<,
Where < is the following :
“Qantas Points and Status Credits (where applicable) are earned on Eligible Flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number (including partner airline flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number) or flights with a Jetstar (JQ or GK) flight number (including partner airline flights with a Jetstar Airlines flight number) in one Membership Year for them to contribute towards the Platinum Bonus Reward. Status Credits earned from other partner airlines, non flying offers and from Status Credit bonus earn promotions and Loyalty Bonus will not contribute towards the Platinum Bonus Reward”.
There is nothing misleading or deceptive about it. The bolding is mine.

Did you not see the image I posted? I don't care about the terms and conditions, there is no asterisk, arrow or other indication of any other conditions and no explanation of what an eligible flight is. This is deceptive advertising and I will be taking it to Consumer Affairs, even though it feels like a futile effort. I have to say what bothers me even more is how apathetic everybody seems to be to this and I wonder if you are all just cowed by the corporate might of the flying kangaroo or just AI bots?

Apathetic is when you pay more attention to advertising than terms and conditions of a program and then cry foul when things are not what they seem. Next you will be going to the authorities about the fast food not being served as it looks on the menu! Perhaps you should wonder why you are the sole dissenting voice here amongst your peers both vastly more experienced and inexperienced, coincidently most of which read terms and conditions or the fine print - ponder that! Meanwhile we wonder why the various scat’s and courts are clogged with cases that most would regard as futile?
