False on merger. It is reported on another source that VA has lodged an application to ACCC for mutual FFP recongition and greater codeshare.
There're also talks about a possible merger between Velocity and Koru, and I hope this materialise, so that Forever Gold VA members will be able to get Lifetime *G to get respected across Europe.
Could you expand on what this could look like? There're also talks about a possible merger between Velocity and Koru
I think this may be some deliberation amongst some other group members online, and not an official.Could you expand on what this could look like?
Do you mean something like how Qatar, BA, Iberia etc all use Avios, or is this different?
Little to no. chance of that happening, and NZ will want to fill up their long haul seats with higher spending passengers, not low yielding VA connecting passengers which adds basically nothing to NZ's financial bottom line.It would be fantastic if this opens up VA codeshares on Air NZ to the US, anyway to avoid United.
If they did this it would be interesting to see if could book an open jaw ticket mixed between YVR and a US Port, at the moment any VA codeshares to Canada force you on AC both ways and any VA codeshares to the US force you on UA both ways.

There's no expanding on what it looks like because it's not happening. It's like someone saying they saw a unicorn.Could you expand on what this could look like?

I don't think we need any incentives to get passengers to the US, as there is low demand to the US right now.It would be fantastic if this opens up VA codeshares on Air NZ to the US, anyway to avoid United.

I think VA should significantly focus on Asia to make sure they are codesharing and making FFP benefits with Garuda Indonesia, Thai Airways, Vietnam Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, EVA Air, Air India and PIA, which will get them to make lots more money and connectivity.
