After several phone calls, which proved unhelpful, my dogged husband emailed the parking company and persuaded them that the fines were unfair, and they were subsequently waivered.

Google tells me this is common but I just don't like it

Convention for today seems to be Father's Day, but I think it should be Fathers' Day (or maybe even just Fathers Day). I can kind of make an argument for the former; it is the individual's view because we don't tend to celebrate fathers generally as part of the day, only our own, but I still think the latter is the better fit because the day IS for all fathers.

The day is for fathers to share with their respective children.
