I just noticed the many different brands on our teaspoons - United, Cathay Pacific JAL LAN, Finnair and SQ.
Mostly from the 70s and 80s when virtually all our flights were in Y.
But none with QF brand even though virtually every flight out of and back to Australia was with QF.

I only have one airline spoon.
A mother of pearl caviar spoon I kept from CX F.

Its a personal habit of mine (mind you husband advises it actually goes by the name of ‘theft’!)
Marimekko finnair serviettes in the Helsinki lounge, ditto Ittala in flight (cutlery/glases) ceramics on Air Portugal & Malta… I better stop lest I get put onto an Interpol database. We (or rather I) once tried to set a complete table for a dinner party of such items

I have two of the Qatar milk jugs. So cute. I would have flogged the CX quilt if I could. It was beautiful. Everything from the EK First suite but that's what they expect. And I have two sets of the Turkish airlines salt and pepper shakers. I wanted the cutlery of our recent Bangkok airways flights. I must try harder now.

I felt bad about my 2 Ansett spoons. I shouldn't after reading about the experts on AFF.

Found a spoon after mum died, it was from a hotel in Rawilpindi, I couldn't work out how she aquired it. I went though there in early 1980, but don't remember souveniring anything like like that.
Going through old letters, it seems that someone she knew went there during the war as a member of the RAAF and "collected" it. I'll find it and post a photo.

Today was the beautiful first day of spring and I washed some textiles.. out on the line were bath mats from Hotel Kamp Helsinki, Mandarin Oriental Zurich and Fairmont Montreaux .. oops

OMG. I'm such a beginner. I thought I was naughty taking a Relaix et Chateau hand towel. You've got a haberdashery thing happening here.

So my first longer flight is with Jetstar International. . But where we are staying.....opportunity knocks.

Mrsdrron is the absolute best when it comes to +collecting.+. Back in the 80s we went for a 3 day visit into China just across the border from Hong Kong.
We stayed at a new hotel. A couple of young lawyers from Newcastle challenged her to a competition after she recounted some of her collecting.
They didn't stand a chance. 2 tea sets and a cushion cover where 2 I remember and we still have them.

How do you manage this…
We were ‘detained’ from leaving a Bali hotel because their ‘post inspection’ indicated we had stolen this poxy black and white cotton thing they put on the ends of the beds. We denied. They called the room steward. He’d put it in the cupboard. Now we were late for our flight so the manager had to take us in his big car to get us there.

And we have watched women being interrogated at VIN Pearl hotel in Vietnam as they couldn’t locate - a tea spoon. The women denied and said they had to share the only one in the room.

This is why I’m scared

Mere challenges that make the game more fun.. get a vibe of the hotel about how bolshie things might get.. and have a prepared explanation if challenged .. I have been know to put items in the safe so they get replaced. Also, I only collect special things.

Well that hand towel I umm needed took. I made sure all the other towels were bunched around so not obvious. Shoukda taken the gorgeous bath towel instead.
