Yes we found this with the RFDS, which we did one off donations every couple of months and then they changed their format and would only now accept recurring donations each month.
We had a friend who survived cancer and did a charity walk recently. We donated to this cause and today, my husband received a phone call asking him to donate further and asked him for his date of birth and would he consider putting a donation clause in his will.
Why on earth would they want his date of birth? They already have most of his details, email, phone number, name. He refused and hung up.
Unfortunately a lot of charities have to use marketing companies these days. Last week I preferred to purchase some hand made goods, buy some raffle tickets and give a cash donation on the spot to our local cancer carers group, at their local store.
