Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

So, tapping on the Queenslands Brisbane Airport Airtrain card reader with the Go card, will elicit the 50 cent fare?
Just like that?

But it’s one or the other from what I can tell. eg contactless or Opal. You can’t mix and match on different days.
Just setting it up now.
I think that you CAN mix payment methods on different days, just can't (shouldn't) on the SAME day.

I have an existing CC on my Transport NSW profile (as well as Opal). Clicking thru, it was telling me that it would cancel my Opal but there did appear to be an either / or option but no way to select it…🤷‍♂️

Decided it wasn’t worth the hassle. My Opal is down to $10 float, so no big deal plus I still get a quarterly statement of actual usage v CC/DC which will just show a $ charge.

I haven't tried it but don't think so

No, Airtrain is specifically excluded from the 50c fares and the normal Airtrain fares apply.

For a while, when the 50c fares were brought in, the fares were specially lowered to around half price (I think it was $9.50), but once that honeymoon was over, they went back to the normal very expensive fares.

Arrived in Gold Coast airport late this am....Uber was quoting $65 to Cahill Av. So thought we will try the bus (777) and tram combo, changing at Broadbeach South. Easy as just tapped credit card on/ off on both the bus and tram....took just under an hour.

Whilst having lunch with @Fifa and her +1, I asked her how much did the public transport from airport cost....I was in shock when she said $0.50.. this must be the cheapest to / from an airport in Australia unless you walked?!

Older retired Victorian residents can get to/from MEL for nix on weekends, even from Sale.

All public transport (not private airtrain) is 50c one way in QLD. The constraints are very generous. AI summary below

EDIT: seniors are free in the Brisbane area between 08:30-15:30 7 days a week.

For all Qld airports, except BNE airport, (Airtrain), bus connections, are that low rate, for adults.
Adults pay $0.50, pensioners and Seniors card holders in Qld get free, as with other states pensioners and Seniors card holders in their own states.
Buses via Skygate and Toombul, are $0.50.
And I think its permanent.
Getting the 590 from Skygate to Upper Mt Gravatt is too long (trip time wise, unless you get off somewhere on that ride), but the 590 from Skygate, to Toombul, and walk a bit to the train station, its the best.

Coming back to ADLs one, 1 point.
Interstate Seniors Card, if they tap their card onto the bus reader at ADL airport, that card wont tap on the reader.
Interstate Seniors, coming to South Australia, need to get their interstate Seniors Card registered onto Admets system, and as ADL airport does not have an Admet office, its only one at the Adelaide Railway Station.
Explaining your situation to the bus drive on the J1/J2 bus, will work, but not sure if CSO ticket checkers will accept that, but they are far in between, not so often seen on Admet buses (sad really).
A pain in the you know where.
Seniors Card nationally, should have the pt system already for the whole country, but its not, and its all still state based.

Even more hoops coming to NSW. Interstate seniors are entitled (I use that word deliberately🤣 ) to a New South Wales seniors concession transport card but have to apply online, and if you want to use credit card with concession you have to get a physical card first and then register the credit card.
But worth it imo considering eg normal ferry fare Circular Quay to Kirribilli (5 minutes) is $14.70 return, cf $2.50 senior's daily cap.

Correction. Pensioners and seniors all pay the same 50c fare (except Brisbane seniors who travel free on buses during off peak times. Gold Coast abolished their free senior bus travel when the 50c fares were introduced)
