Amusingly, not showing bookings but still asking me if I want to spend points to "offset" emissions on next week's flights...

Same for me. Logged in via laptop to ff account from NZ to https://www.qantas.com/au/en/my-account/bookings

Anyone else having issues on the Qantas website to Manage your booking?

Being discussed in the Qantas IT gripes thread. Should be fixed now, but when its happened in the past, I add a booking via the PNR/Name and all the bookings re-appeared.

Only realised that QF Jewel check in closes at 4.15pm according to Changi website.

Have checked in online, have BP"s for QF 38 tonight, 11.30pm departure.

Is it 3 hours prior to our flight or can we present earlier to the desk for luggage check-in (have oversize ) as there are a QF flights at 7.30 and 8pm?

QF check-in desks will be open for earlier QF flights. Additionally, I discovered a couple of weeks ago that you don't need to schlep to thee Jewel. you can use the SATS premier check-in instead. Not sure if its restricted to premium cabins or status but discovered this when needing to checking at 2:30pm.

Yup, you're good to go then. I too was WP in J. Only reason I knew about it as turned up to the QF check-in desks and they displayed that option. SATS check-in was dead. Facing the QF checkin desks, its to your left and towards the back.

Suspect that's a permanent fixture there. It was displayed when I was there too a couple of weeks ago.

Hi all

Not really a newbie to flying, but yes a newbie to the forum.

A newbie type question, the wife and I will now be flying regularly to the USA and due to a bit of age we are considering breaking the trip up and enjoying a stop over, eg. Fiji or similar using a partner airline such as Fiji airways.

Does anyone else regularly do this and what are the most cost effective ways to do this keeping in mind most stopovers in the pacific are good ones.

To where is USA? West coast, mid USA or east coast? From where? Need any USA or AU domestic flights?
Class of travel?
For long routes 2 medium haul flights can have less sleep time ~ more interruptions than 1 long flight. Depending on schedule ~ actual times.
Depending on origin - destination are several airline AU<--->USA. Not only QF and partners. And Air NZ (has some different destination to QF)

In the meantime. FJ is probably a good option as they have onward flights to LAX (daily), SFO and YVR (alternating days but usually on the older J config AFAIK).

SYD<->NAN are “day flights” but aim for the A350 not the 737. NAN-USA/Vancouver are long enough to get some sleep also.

Another option is via HNL. QF and HA/AS between Oz-HNL. Between HNL and the mainland, there’s a variety of options on AA, AS. Downside is HNL accomodation is expensive. Mind you, hotels in Denarau have skyrocketed also. We spent a week in HNL (AirBnB) last year because it was cheaper than a hotel in Fiji! .

If you have points, there’s good award availability between Oz and NAN (FJ) as well QF between HNL.

Thank you Mwenenzi and sorry, yes preferred is east coast because our new grandchildren are in Michigan. So Chicago is good as AA is the hub. We have been travelling through Dallas but Qantas are pricing this up now.

I am LTG so I look for QF and partners to make life easier for baggage and lounges. Yep I think you're right, BNE or SYD to Nandi are the best options followed by FJ to LAX and onwards, unless anyone else has found something better?

Where are you starting from in Oz?

I wouldn’t discount HNL if that works. We’ve done HNL-SYD in whY twice in two years. It’s a day flight and manageable. The AY A330s have PE which would be comfortable but if you’re not a fan of the AY A330 J seats, then maybe not Business.
