They are safe in Dubai with DIL’s parents and report decreased missile activity yesterday.
Yes Seat Son is a long term resident of the UAE -5 years in Dubai and now 3 years in Abu Dhabi. He only wants to leave to go to his wedding in South Africa and will then be straight back “home” to the UAE.There’s a lot of people in this part of the world… but we’re not all leaving! The backlog is largely travellers stuck midway. Still a lot, no doubt, but there aren’t tens of thousands of Australians trying to leave the gulf.
Interesting that EK/EY seem to be pushing ahead very hard with additional services. They are geographically in better positions than DOH/BAH, but there’s been a lot of activity in the UAE today.
Likely anyone who had a booking and was in Dubai at the timeAny ideas on how EK would have decided who to put on EK414? Pax bound for Australia by status?
I think it was mentioned previously that Emirates was prioritising passengers stuck in transit and had been there the longest.Any ideas on how EK would have decided who to put on EK414? Pax bound for Australia by status?

I don't know anyone affected personally - but I was just curious and hoping this was the case.Suspect elderly, children and health also play a role in deciding.
If they need to disembark, you need to take everything from the plane and clear security again I presume.Friends flying QF9 on Saturday and have been advised they will be stopping in Singapore to refuel. Will they need to disembark and go through security to reboard
I presume they can leave everything on the plane if they need to disembark
Who knows what their appetite for risk is.I must say- Emirates is pretty busy flying today. I wonder what has changed so massively from a day or two ago in terms of security of those flights. And why is Qatar seeing the situation so differently?
but my question is will they need to disembark
@Daver6 did you wife go via SIN and what was her experience
The difference here is that Turkish also sells seats on the IST-KUL sector separate to IST-SYD, which means everyone gets off in KUL even if you're continuing on to SYD, and even though they don't have fifth freedom rights. This situation is purely a fuel stop, which may mean pax can remain on board.I think you have to disembark when the plane is refuelling. We had to in KL flying home on Turkish airlines.
Given that sometimes on planes you are told not to buckle seat belts on taking your seats as the plane is refueling then it shouldn't be an issue. The difference here is that Turkish also sells seats on the IST-KUL sector separate to IST-SYD, which means everyone gets off in KUL even if you're continuing on to SYD, and even though they don't have fifth freedom rights. Would be curious to see how they manage this as I've seen it done differently in different parts of the world, and have wondered if it has anything to do with regulations at the refuelling point.
