What cheeses me off

Not so much cheeses me off ( but it does) but office unprofessionalism.

Yesterday, had my car serviced. Place isn’t near anything, so I took my laptop to do some work in the reception area ( nice, with tables, coffee etc). Three people on the “service area” counter. My God. I eventually had to leave, such was the noise. Very loud personal conversations, cackling etc. I mean, nice for people to enjoy their workplace but this just went on and on. The business should be able to reduce headcount by two quite easily.

And then today. I went to see my former GP at a new place. Walk in to the reception office and there is what I gathered to be the practice nurse and I think her army husband discussing something that he’d walked in with - an allergic reaction. So there was an informal examination going on - there, right in the reception office. The receptionist who apparently knew the husband chipped in with a number of funny one liners and suggestions. Squeals, guffaws … All at the tops of their voices.

I hate Bill Gates!!! Half way through a business email MS shuts down my laptop for some unscheduled update. My email response is now gone and I have 5 minutes of my life I will not get back whilst everything froze. Should be in gaol.

I had lunch with Bill in Melbourne a few weeks ago, (not on the same table), while he has no executive appointments at MS, he is still a technology advisor to Satya and other C level staff and has a few shares.

Perhaps I should have been more specific that he hasn’t held a Board or Management position with MS since then (rather than having completely divested himself of any and all contact or pecuniary interest with MS or its leadership).

Was this before or after the antibiotics?

Bill got out before the fall into garbage OSs. Before windows 8 after which they all hung their head in shame then proceeded to get even worse. W10 was acceptable but Windows development now has been taken over by “designers” (people from the 3rd Ark in Douglas Adam’s terms) rather than programmers and now lots of garbage AISlop I’d being introduced. Simple example, designers stuffed the start Jeni and vetoed a movable task bar and other things that had been present in earlier versions. It just keeps getting worse and that keep making silly changes but not fixing existing problems and annoying aspects, plus introducing more Telemetry to steal person behaviour and promote advertising to users.

Charities that use your donation to send you regular begging mail. I really like the Royal Flying Doctor Service, howver I am receiving mail every fortnight and i am over the mindless waste of my donation. Today I wrote to them announcing I do not appreciate this endless stream of Australia Post mail and that begging is an unattractive trait. I also explained I donate to an outback charity, Purple House, and that they never send me mail nor emails begging for more so I continue to support them. I will concentrate my charity to those without large executive overheads and need to waste donations.

WCMO right now is that after being unusually slow all arvo, nbn went down completely 5 hours ago (right when heavy rain hit) and is still down.

So i havent be able to stream the new Scrubs tonight (no i dont want to watch on my phone) and have been forced into watching FTA.

Then just now my PVR that i watch tv via randomly decided to reboot to apply a software update and is stuck without an internet connection.

Dreading having to go into clients office on a Friday if net is not back by tomorrow as have huge files to upload.

ETA - nbn page says wont be fixed til midday, guessing they couldnt find a techician that wanted to work in the rain.

MrMac saw his cardiologist this week.Maybe 3 people in the waiting room. 2 receptionists not working flat out. They certainly weren't fielding constant phone calls but jeepers. Yabber yabber yabber. We waited 15 minutes and by the end I was sick of the loud voices -no girls, the patients aren't interested in your drivel at max volume

Checking into a hotel and saying I will pay via eftpos and being charged as credit. As usual I was not paying attention when my partner paid and she said that they did not give her the reader to pin. I had hoped they did not add the surcharge but no such luck.
Did not receive drink voucher at checkin and assumed (doh) they still scanned your membership card. Had to go back to front counter after ordering a meal to get one, a staff member we got to know over the years was there so head back with four vouchers instead of one. Damn I had already paid for one drink and had no need for the other three.
