Hope all the linked airlines will all move, ie, all QFd/QFi/OW, will move, or all VAd/VAi/*A will move, other it will be another HND/NRT schemozzle.

I think you misunderstand the purpose of the airport.
Per the video the gates are numbered 18-24 (for future expansion) but for many years it will have much lower throughout than any of the three SYD terminals.

If HND, HKG and SIN Changi could do works into the sea, but of course, oh, no, we cant do the same to KSA...
Anyway, I do still like the current system.
But we have to wait I guess, to see what they do, er, do, ie, if they do move QF, all QFd and QFi and all OW will also move.
If its a half hearted only QFi move and QFd stays, then its problematic to get to and from WSI to KSA and back.

WSI isn't meant to be a replacement for SYD.

I believe only QFLink (Alliance Airlines and/or National Jet Systems) and JQ will be setting up a hub at WSI initially. QF mainline or any VA presence at WSI will be a while off.

We did go into the sea with the main runway and then the parallel runway. There wouldn’t be much left of Botany Bay if they extended further!

You’ll never see all QF ops move to WSI while ever SYD continues to operate. They may move some QFd or add some additional QFd flights to WSI where it makes sense.

Expect to see some new or relocated JQ services in due course. It’ll actually be a better option for those needing to transit JQi<->JQd.

Think of WSI vs SYD the same as ADL vs MEL. No one is moving their entire operations there as it is serving a different market.

Any QFLink/JQ services at WSI will likely be IN addition to their existing SYD services, they will not want to give up their slots at SYD as long as the City airport is still operational. Some relocated QFG services from SYD to WSI will likely see the vacated slots at SYD be replaced with another domestic service out of SYD.

I'd think any JQi services out of WSI will be likely be a token DPS service (relocated from SYD to keep within bilateral) in the short term at most. Freeing up a JQi slot at SYD for a 788 long haul or another Tasman/Pacific Islands service.

Is some reports out there that seem to think that. I was reading something that by xx year they intend to overtake Mascot and the end result was WSI flying the bulk of the traffic and Mascot the scraps. I will try to find it. I think it’s just madness but that’s just me.

Unless WSI can get fast rail into the city in 10 minutes which won’t ever happen in our lifetimes then forget it. I think 10 million passengers for the airport seems probable in the short term, and 20m in the long term.

I would be cautious with some of the estimates being pushed around, Mascot are on the record as saying they expect a further 30m pax growth in the next 15 years. Taking into account traffic has been flat for the past decade, it has taken the airport 40 years to grow the last 30 million increase, not sure where this data is coming from to say they expect such traffic in the coming years.
