JAL 777-300ER back on Sydney route

This is typical of JAL - they've done this for the last few seasons when the 777 has ended up on the SYD route. They firstly list the aircraft on the schedule and load a seatmap with F seats, but with F0 A0 inventory until they are reasonably confident of operating an F cabin. The moment F>1 they generally also load 1-2 A seats per day, so set your EF alerts accordingly :)

They are doing this as the 777s are slated for retirement, but the exact dates are still unclear for late 2026 and largely dependant on external factors - particularly the delivery of their international A350s, which will free up 787s, which may end up back on the SYD route.

@sudoer is A inventory what generally triggers QF rewards as well?

No, sorry my post was slightly misleading. I'm referring to "A" as awards, but JAL also has A revenue seats.

It's not that case that every A revenue seat is also an award, unfortunately, though I wish it were the case!

Oh, I see now. Unfortunate that it's not certain, here's hoping to having some luck with last minute changes!

It's weird because it seems to only come up in the normal booking tool, not multi-city for me, even when searching with Australian origin.
Yeah that’s been mentioned a couple of times. Seems to be a search tool discrepancy.
@sudoer Having read madroosters link on his explanation at EF, its to do with POC. So I imagine whats happening is JL restricts award visibility for Tokyo POC but has more availbility on Australia POC. Which kind of makes sense given JL primarily serves more JP customers than AU customers.

I guess this will be useful for future references. Also JL definitely does restrict AUS > JP POC awards too. I believe that's why I had so much trouble getting a SIN > HND flight earlier this year when tagged onto a MEL > SIN flight but on it's own it was available.
