I didn’t mind the new sav blanc option.
And nice to see that Tatachilla is AUSTRALIAN made, as are the others.

UrkI’m currently sitting in the Ahlan first class lounge at DXB, in the roped off section at the back where QR sends its F passengers.
In most respects, this is an impressive lounge. There’s a la carte dining with a great menu and prompt table service, as well as a full range of spirits and champagne. So you can imagine my surprise to see that 3 of the wines on the drinks list are the same as what’s served in the VA lounges! I think I’ll stick with champagne.

I guess VA can now claim they serve the same wine as a first class lounge in Dubai! So you can imagine my surprise to see that 3 of the wines on the drinks list are the same as what’s served in the VA lounges!
Will be there in a month for the first time.I’m currently sitting in the Ahlan first class lounge at DXB, in the roped off section at the back where QR sends its F passengers.
Great point. Only thing I really enjoy lately is the coffee. Other than everything else is meh. Agree at MEL the array of food and wine choices makes me wonder why am I chasing status. With such low level of wines (and food) available, is it even worth chasing status to get access the lounges? Airport facilities food options are getting better and better these days.
Yes I actually kinda liked that lounge on my one visit (so far). Nice views also.My local Virgin airport lounge is Gold Coast. Haven't tried the wines yet as I can't go past the Balter XPA beers. Top shelf in my book.
I'm soon to fly Virgin Business Class & sorry to hear about their poor quality wine. That said, I'm not that impressed with Qantas lounge wines (especially their sparkling wine); many lounges in the world actually serve Champagne!! I'm not suggesting free-pour, too much wastage. Other world lounges offer free basic alcohol & a small charge for more premium wines (that's something I would certainly pay for).Virgin Australia Finally Refreshes Its Lounge Wines is an article written by the AFF editorial team:

Virgin Australia Finally Refreshes Its Lounge Wines
For a while, some of the wines served in Virgin Australia's airport lounges have tasted pretty bad. But the airline is finally refreshing its wine list with some new options.www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au

Nothing wrong with free pour...many lounges offer it. Also it's ridiculous having to Q at Aussie lounges (well done within VA) just to get a beer!!I'm soon to fly Virgin Business Class & sorry to hear about their poor quality wine. Happy with free pour, but would be great to see Champagne in Qantas lounges even if it's not free pour (other than Sydney 1st)Nothing wrong with free pour...many lounges offer it. Also it's ridiculous having to Q at Aussie lounges (well done within VA) just to get a beer!!
The pics show how BA do it!!View attachment 484916View attachment 484917
Completely agree. The only thing good about the lounge, at least in MEL, is the space itself. Coffee is always pretty good too. If I see one more veggie curry or biriyani I’ll scream!I'm already questioning the value of VA lounge access (or even VA status at all) these days. The food is terrible, and when the "improved" wine selection includes a cheap and rough Shiraz that Dan's is currently selling for $6 per bottle, Virgin is answering that question for me. I can't justify going out of my way to maintain platinum when this is the level of "rewards".
Sorry, but I think that's wishful thinking. Virgin (Bain and their American consultants) have decided to replace pax who pay for their flights with those that apply for the (several) right credit cards. It's the American way... But no less in number.as in all likelihood the lounges will not have so many guests with "status" over time (at least the VA ones perhaps).
Yeah although I had thought that the number of credit cards that allow for that access had been reduced...however I guess not!Sorry, but I think that's wishful thinking.
