Singapore (SIN) Stopover Tips

Thank you for the update and all the tips, I look forward to my stay there next week and some chicken rice. The weather change is going to be a shock for the system after freezing European temperatures 🌡.

Virgin - Singapore Airlines - Air France transfers at Changi

After some advice please.

I have two separate rewards tickets that are linking up in Changi. Firstly, I'm taking a Virgin flight from BNE - DRW and then transferring on an SQ flight for the DRW - SIN leg. This itinerary was booked via Virgin Australia points. At Changi, I'm then connecting to an Air France SIN - CDG flight that was booked using QF points. There's nearly 4 hours layover at Changi so should be plenty of time to make the connection (and enjoy the lounge) but I'm trying to work out the logistics on making the transfer.

Do you think there's any chance that the Virgin staff in BNE will tag my luggage all the way to CDG? Should I hit the transfer desk at Changi as soon as I land and hope they can intercept my bags and route them on to the Air France flight? Or should I just clear immigration, collect my bags and then check in landside for the Air France flight and go back through immigration?

As VA don't have an interline/through checking agreement with AF, I don't think tagging through from BNE will work. Sounds like hitting the transfer desk at SIN would be the best option, with Plan B clearing immigration and re-checking - 4 hours should be plenty of time.

The other option, depending how much time you have at DRW, you could collect and recheck there - it's highly likely that SQ agents will be able to check it through to CDG, but I think the Changi option might be better.

SQ interline with AF so would recommend checking to DRW then re checking in there even though it’s seperate tickets

As long as there’s enough time to collect and get to SQ checkin before checkin closes allowing for modest flight delay of course. (SQ counter at DRW closes 40 mins before departure).
