Qantas boosts international capacity, wet lease Finnair aircraft

The article predates because - allegedly - “people just assumed initially”.

No - people took on good faith initially what the Aviation Press printed.

Sure, circumstances change and what actually eventuates may not be what was initially planned, but to say people “just assumed” at the outset is just plain incorrect.

Yes, I don’t disagree. Always pretty clear what was happening with the first two.

I think the possible confusion alluded to by @elanshin was the additional A330 (mentioned at the article above). That’s in addition and starting life as dry lease from the get go on HNL and SIN.

The other article suggested those first two have been through the paint shop already and back in QF livery.

The second article also talks of ongoing delays with B787 deliveries - I’m guessing (yes assuming!!) that these further delays were not foreseen - or confirmed - when the original leases were arranged.

Good to see QF actually being quite dynamic with respect to being able to adjust/increase short-term capacity.

I wonder if they kept the seat arrangement which would include a set of Y Comfort seats from AY? They offered a few extra inches of legroom and for longhaul Y it was quite adequate (much comfier than the regular Y).

There’s been nothing mentioned about seat config changes.

I actually don’t recall anyone mentioning before those Y+ seats before. Hopefully they stay “secret”.

PM me with the rows! 😉

They had them on the wetleases, and the seat map is the same for the wet and dry leases.

Aerolopa shows the seats… first few rows, centre only, of the economic cabin.

Reports that the first dry lease on VH-QPK starts this Friday with QF81 SYD-SIN.

As for future dry leases, not sure if AY would be willing to let more aircraft go that long term.
Just got off QF81 yesterday.

Boarded via the new bus gates in SYD.

I was quite confused to see an unfamiliar cabin despite the regular Qantas paint scheme.

Overheard cabin crew saying it was their first time working on that configuration. Nice new interiors, big step up compared to the regular tired QF A330s. Good friendly service.

These comfort seats have been a great hidden benefit of oneworld Emerald status (and other passengers on the booking). Just need to remember middle seats on the a330 and outside seats on the a350. The small addition of leg room makes a big difference long haul.

Although i find Finnair Y to be closer to LCC than full service these days for their service.

Indeed… and their PEY is fairly similar by the looks of it from vlogs.

In fact I’m really wondering about my upcoming business class ticket! While I’m keen to try t(e new seat, the rest of it looks… errr… basic?

Yes, I’ve been looking our trip next year and coming home via BKK is an option but I’m just not sure after reading some reviews
