Never had a QF op-up in 15yrs of flying (7 as a plat), 2nd one on a OW partner… (other was BA)

YMMV! 30 years I have had a few, best one was a $35 fare BNE-SYD the day after AN collapsed. CX has been the most prolific, had a couple with EK.

Need to have J seats that one one wants to pay for (either points or cash upgrades for an op up. Happens a lot to Rockhampton where J is often empty.

Good for me, I often book to/from ROK with hours to spare and have a few times this year snagged a J reward seat hours before departure.

You know i only just realised rereading the original agreement, these 2 dry lease planes were always meant to be separate to the 2 continuing wetlease. First part said 2.5 years wetlease which would put it as mid 2026 end where as the 2 drylease were to start late 2025. (Now)

Interesting that a lot of us missed that part of the timeline.

It’s lurking in the discussion. Initial pair wetlease then dry lease from 2026 (to be painted in QF colours).

Then 2x more popped up as dry lease from the get go to do HNL (starting in a few days).

I think a lot of people just assumed initially it was Wetlease into a drylease, but it's wet lease + drylease with a small overlap for the next few months from the beginning.
