And a glimpse of one of the ugliest buildings (UTS).

10 Murray St Hobart government building (1960s) was one of the ugliest buildings in town. It sat right next to the heritage-listed Parliament building on one side and heritage listed 14 Murray St on the other. In about 2010, it was proposed to be demolished to make way for an enlarged and modern government office precinct.

The 'Save 10 Murray' group fought to save the building, appealing right through as many forums as they could, noting the building's 'cultural and architectural significance'. Fortunately they lost.

Today, the street frontage is part of The Tasman, Marriott's 6* hotel (pointy bit), and a public square behind.
