Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Just got back from Langton's Warehouse Sale in outer Melbourne (Hoppers Crossing). Price list for those interested in photos.

I grabbed St Hallett Old Block from 2019 at $60 (a challenging year for Barossa so not expecting too much). They also had some last chance $10 bottles that offered some value.

Overall the prices weren't as sharp as previously, and not much for me personally.

There were lots of people wheeling out overflowing trolleys, so horses for courses!

Staff friendly.

I had a bottle in my trolley, then tried it at the tasting table. Was a bit underwhelming for the money so decided not to buy. Should have bought some Moss Wood, so much stock, but pricing wasn't too sharp.

Got a six pack of 2019 Noon Reserve Shiraz and 2019 St Hallett Old Block, not an amazing vintage admittedly but birthyear for my twins. The Noon won't last long, but am hoping the Old Block will last another 12-15 years. Got a six pack of Leconfield Cabernet for everyday drinking.

I've had some fantastic 20+ year old Noons so I would be surprised if it wasn't still good in another 12-15 alongside the Old Block.

Lucky they weren’t born in 2018 or you would have a real buying problem!

I also tried the Astralis and was a little underwhelmed relative to other vintages, albeit 9:15am.

Let us know your thoughts on The Noon.

I've been on Noon's mailing list since 2000 I think - unlike Wendouree they kept my newsletter coming even though I didn't order for a few years. Some of the best value wine coming out of McLaren Vale, I think - even at the inflated price I paid today. I actually bought a sixpack to put into storage, but couldn't resist buying a couple of bottles to drink soon - will keep you guys posted.
