Yes, Ponant def overkill - mainly because the inner liner can't be removed.
Mine has now found a good home on the Australian ski slopes.
The real experience in Greenland is to get out and about, so that will mean turboprop and/or helicopter flights. Once you factor in those costs, plus accommodation, food etc. then the expedition ships look pretty good. Flights from KEF were similar to CPH when I last looked as well, even though way shorter. They were not cheap.I have been to Iceland and the Faroes but not Greenland. I am thinking about flying from Reykjavik to Nuuk for a week in July next year.
Prices of things on land wasn't as bad as I expected. More Danish style rather than Icelandic style prices, which is only marginally better anyway I know, but...I might take the Arctic Umiaq line public ferry up north. I'm stingy and poor at the same time. Qualities that are great for Greenland!
I thought they were were even a bit better than that. I had lunch in a cafe one day and the price was definitely not exceptional.Prices of things on land wasn't as bad as I expected. More Danish style rather than Icelandic style prices, which is only marginally better anyway I know, but...

Hence why we are all sitting here quietly smug about our cheap cruise I think!Even a ticket on the basic ferry from Nuuk to Ilullisat runs north of a grand. Pah!
