Which lounge in SIN?

Indeed you can use both, did so on CX714 last Monday!

And so I did today. Went to the QF lounge and had breakfast, Vegemite on toast and then fruit and yoghurt. I was advised that my flight would not be called in this lounge and that I had a bit of a walk to my gate.

Fair enough, there was another person there for a little while and then by myself. I left at 10.15 and went to the CX lounge. Showed them my printed invitation and was welcomed and advised that I could use both sides of the lounge.

To the left there were several people near the food and to the right only a couple of people. So I went right. If that was someone's first lounge experience they would surely be disappointed.

Left after about 15 minutes and had a little walk around until it was time to board.

Aah I c, I didn't actually arrive at checkin until nearly 10:30o .. by the time I got the QF FCL no toast or anything out ... so went to the CX lounge. The main thing I actually like about it is the view of planes/tarmac, but they did bring some OK food out at one point. Still think the QF J lounge is better, at least for the decor.

Can anyone confirm if indeed the Skyview lounge is in fact 24 hours? The Cathay Pacific website says it is, and some other sources imply it is - but I'm wondering what flights are departing at 3am in the morning and such times to require it to be open.

(I know it also serves as the lounge for some other airlines, and as a paid for lounge under some schemes, so perhaps that is the reason????)

yes it is. the whole place is 24/7. the JNB flight used to leave at some ridiculous hour of the morning that i have tried to expunge from my memory.

Changi Airport website indicates Emirates at 1:20 to Dubai, KLM 1:25 to Amsterdam, Air China 2:30 to Chengdu, Delta 5:50 to NRT/MSP. Think Air China uses the lounge. EK don't not sure about KLM and DL.

If the kids are playing on the computers are they really bothering people? For mine it ties them up and stops them from running around like terriers.

I know it's a pain when you want to access a PC but surely these kids have some rights to use them as well. As long as they're not being excessively loud then I say let them enjoy themselves and I'll wait for a PC.
The problem is basically what are the PC's being used for?

Say one had a 45minute transit due to a delayed inbound and wanted to OCLI (and print a BP) for a later flight or check an an upgrade or check an expected email.

Any one of these actions should take no more than a few minutes but someone playing games and stopping one from doing so is annoying.

If you have a look around you often see discreet plaques requesting use of PC be limited during busy times.

I couldn't agree more, but respect for one's fellow man is so thin on the ground these days. If you can't manage to keep all the 'hogs' out of computer labs in their university days, there's no chance you'll be able to do it in later life. sigh.

QF J lounge in SIN was quite good, I still prefer MEL intl J lounge as its got a better intimate ambience about it... :)

Just been in these 2 lounges and found that the MEL J lounge was very dark.

Both had plenty of beer and I wasn't really interested in food. ;)

And the constant noise from the PC speakers when kids are playing games is also annoying.

And how do you think a 5 year old is going to interpret that sign?

I would hope the 5yo's parent would be able to read, understand and take the appropriate action to ensure the 5yo complies with the request.

How could they take appropriate action when they are nowhere near the computer area drinking, eating, chatting, relaxing or whatever else they feel like doing other than supervising their child's computer use in the lounge. I have seen this too many times in the SIN business lounge. It was like that a couple of weeks ago late in the evening when I was returning from SIN.

Getting off-topic but just before Christmas I noticed this lady setting up games on 2 desktops in the BNE domestic business lounge for what appeared to be her grandchildren and then used one of the desktops herself. There are only 8 desktops in that lounge and on busy Friday evenings it is very hard to find a single vacant seat with a functioning desktop.

Even better when very important people sit down and don't use the desktop but plug in their laptop or the ones that actrually come along and unplug the desktops so they can connect their own laptop or charge their laptop or whatever other important things they feel the need to do.

Any parent who does not maintain constant visual supervision of a 5yo child when in a public area like an airport, is irresponsible and the child has my sympathy.

Hopefully it will be interpreted for them by either a lounge agent, their parent or both.
Is that before or after you ask the 5 year old if you can use the desktop to do some very important grown-up printing?

You do not speak to the 5 YO at all!

I would start with the lounge agent.
