I have an upcoming SIN - SYD sector to fly and am interested in anyone's thoughts on the best lounge? I am WP so assume that the QF/BA lounge is preferred, but do any of the other OW carriers have a good lounge?

Many thanks

There are two "oneworld" lounges at SIN - (Skyview - CX and Qantas lounges). There is also a third lounge (contract) used for JAL, but I believe entry is only permitted when actually flying on Jal that day.

The Qantas F lounge is my pick food+drink wise. The Skyview lounge is basic, and very open. Has views of planes, and the food is ok (cups of noodles, dim sum, fried rice, some deserts etc), but nowhere near as good as the Qantas lounge at night.

I found the BA/QF First lounge to be a bit disappointing when I used it in November - felt bland and uninteresting and food was light on. Drinks - I cannot comment as I don't usually have alcohol when traveling.

I have always found the Business class lounge to be very adequate and spacious, although food once again is a bit light on. Showers etc are very good.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have used this third party lounge when flying QF and would recommend it above the QF FLounge in terms of the range of food which I found to be much better. I agree that the CX lounge is basic and not worth your time really.

More importantly, the beverage options are probably better in the QF FCL. If flying QF in the evening, then definitely the FCL has better food options (but then again if food is really that important, for $10 - or less - you can have just as good, if not better food options in the public area of the airport). If flying at a time when QF does not have an imminent departure (ie if you are flying CX) the Skyview has better food options. I am not sure what the food offering is in the QF FCL is like prior to the departure of QF32 SYD-SIN in the morning, so can't comment on that.

Of course if not a regular at SIN, it's almost worthwhile spending some time (sacrilege I know) actually outside the lounge and exploring the airport :)

Best option is definitely the QF First Class lounge.

I will be on QF32 in the morning, booked on an award J ticket. Will be coming off a weekend with nine mates for the Singapore Sixes hockey tournament, so not sure I will be able face the alcohol selection - then again, hair of the dog might be in order.;)

Perhaps I should have been more specific now I think about it. Best bathrooms???

CX Lounge at SIN is a waste of time.
Just like being in the public food gallery only difference is a view over the aircraft gates / taxi area and some daylight.

As per my original post, unless you're travelling on CX when a QF flight is not departing. QF FCL have extremely limited or no food offerings when there are no QF departures. In fact at these times, QF J lounge is probably best.

At least in the Skyview lounge, most of the time, there are no young brats hogging all the desktops playing silly internet games while their parents are taking a break miles away from their brats.

Very limited opening hours and extremely busy before the 4-5 flights back to Australia in the evening....

Good heavens, if I saw that kind of cough happening in any lounge I was using, I'd be having a deep, meaningful and rather stern conversation with the lounge's duty CSM, and potentially the Airport Duty Manager depending on just how badly they were getting on my nerves.

Fair suck of the sauce bottle granted, because everyone who is entitled to lounge access should be allowed in (subject to operational requirements and capacity). However, parents who can't control their offspring really get on my nerves.

The lounge is designed for the comfort and enjoyment of everyone. It doesn't need to be interrupted by the little creatures you created that you don't take responsibility for and exist because either you wern't smacked enough as a child, or missed the day they taught Sex Ed in Health class. Bananas anyone?

Sorry, needed to get that one off my chest, its been building up for a while. Resuming normal transmission.

I visited last Monday morning, after first visiting the QF FCL, before 11:25 CX flight, and wasn't very busy at all, although they are doings some reno's to expand. The Skyview lounge had much better range of pastries, dim sum, some noodles, fruit and buns. QF FCL had very little on offer.

If the kids are playing on the computers are they really bothering people? For mine it ties them up and stops them from running around like terriers.

I know it's a pain when you want to access a PC but surely these kids have some rights to use them as well. As long as they're not being excessively loud then I say let them enjoy themselves and I'll wait for a PC.

QF J lounge in SIN was quite good, I still prefer MEL intl J lounge as its got a better intimate ambience about it..

Food at SIN QF J lounge was good when it was there.. The few times I have been there the lounge was half full at least.
The little smoked salmon tarts were great. Pity I only got 2 of them before they ran out, and were not topped up for another 30 mins just as my flight got called!

Also the white leather 'cocoon' shaped chairs with the foot rests facing out into the terminal were great for relaxing, however could have a better view like a garden or something. :)

Am flying from SIN later today (11.25am) CX714 to HKG in J. Given the comments about the CX lounge I assume I am still able to use the QF/BA lounge?

Yeah access wise there's no dramas for two reasons - your SG membership (you're flying out on another OW carrier), and also because you're on a oneworld J ticket. The SIN QF J Lounge opens at 6:30am.

Food will be pretty scarce at 11:00ish though I'd expect, although I believe sandwiches are available on request.

Thanks Mal, glad to know I'm not the only person awake at this hour.

Although I suspect it may be a civilised time where you are.

Indeed you can use both, did so on CX714 last Monday!

Greater range of (and better!) wines and there's rather decent bubbly (Joseph Perrier NV last time I was there) at the QF FCL. And a selection of Aussie newspapers if you don't have internet access, though these can be a day old unless flying later in the day.

Agree though that food is limited at the QF FCL. The staff do carry around plates of hot food during dinnertime, on the last visit this was a choice between Shepherd's Pie or some Indian platter (had curry on it). But other than that there's not much to choose from.

I actually prefer the decor of the J lounge which feels more modern than the F side.
