Qantas Business Class meals & menus

It is described as a "selection of cheeses".....
So there was a promise of “plural” cheese, but no commitment to 3+. Well played Qantas….

Great service by Elio getting 12 pax fed and watered within the hour. Service delayed by outbound turbulence.

What would crew reaction be if we, say, remove items from the tray and store the trays in the seat pocket whilst eating? 🤔
Except on the 737, there’s plenty of room around the seat to put items, even the tray itself can be perched on the wide armrest on the 330/380/787.

On the 737 short haul, no problems managing the tray. International, well, making everything fit is just part of the fun of the outing :)

International business always remove the dinner tray & set up my table just to feel like its first class love. Breakfast & domestic normally leave on tray. Never had an issue but who knows in future with QF.

On SYD-BNE tonight was a choice of chicken and pearl barley salad or beef something. I had the salad and it was quite nice, tried to be good but the chocolate & raspberry fondant cake was just delicious (best boxed dessert I've had on a domestic J).

QF39 (MEL - CGK) yesterday. Outstanding CSM, one of the best I've had. Meal service was SLOWWWWW, took over 2.5 hours.

"Premium" salted nuts...

Followed by Neil's magnificent side salad

Soup...meh

Beef fillet (well presented and quite tasty, but the beans were vile)

And these are the new amenity kits which are inspired by their vintage travel posters. They are really cheap and nasty and barely feel premium economy standard.

What a thoroughly un-premium offering. 👎

Same menu we had QF29 MEL-HKG in July @qfflyer

Not sure I follow?

Not many airlines offer a choice of three starters and three mains in business.
2.5 hours for a meal service is just ridiculous. 3 courses, they can have 45 minutes max (from delivery of course 1 to delivery of course 3). It only takes a few minutes to eat each course, 20 mins from clearing one plate to delivering the next is more than enough from the consumers perspective, it's not like QF serve large portions that require time to digest!. Many restaurants want you out in 2 hours for 3 courses from arrival to departure including perusing menu to finishing coffee/drinks, even that's pretty laborious. As to the other concern, what's the chances that you'll get your preferred starters AND preferred main either? QFs not exactly got a track record for catering adequately.

Some offer 10+ choices via pre-ordering.

3 isn't impressive - especially when it's the same 3 choices they've served for years....
Yes, but it’s not comparing apples with apples!

SQ serves a single cold starter. No prep required. That hugely cuts down on plating time. QF is preparing at least two hot entrees while SQ is only working on plating mains.

@ downgraded: Sure, restaurants can get you in and out in two hours, but the table starting times are staggered. On board it’s 28, 42 or 70 courses at once, and then doing it all again for the mains. In a tiny space. Much quicker if we went back to pre-plated meals.

If only QF actually did dine on demand. That would ease it.

Actually very few airlines do “Dine on demand”. Aussie travellers have been spoiled by some of the ME airlines - but it’s actually not that common.

Yes, QF needs to bring back preorder.

No, they vary quite a lot.
I love soup. But pea soup? Will make sure I eat in the F lounge tomorrow night.
Our QF103 didn’t have a starter - straight to mains (including a BIG bowl of Pea Soup!).

It was an 20:30 dep, so yep eating well in the QF F lounge was an advantage.
