Am trying to book flights from Sydney to Haneda, JP in May 2026

Qantas have some flight changes in the works for HND, you need to wait until they work out what they are doing, it’s been a long drawn out process.

Am trying to book flights from Sydney to Haneda, JP in May 2026. The only available business class flights that I could find with points were Jetstar which I would rather avoid. Looking at historic availability with Flightseats.Io it seems that there is almost no available flights between 250-100 days out and we are currently at 240ish days.

Why HND? QF fly to NRT from MEL & BNE.
QF upgrades are *never* guaranteed
JQ Business, about equal to QF premium economy, can be OK for a day time flight. Look at DrRon's recent trip report.

Am happy to fly into any of the other airports, I think I originally thought of HND because I flew in there once before many years ago. I understand upgrades are not guaranteed and I'm bottom tier so probably quite unlikely to happen.

So May (after golden week) is traditionally a weaker travel period to JP so there may potentially be more availability but don't count on it. Consider also via MEL (QF79/80) and BNE (QF61/62). Also the daytime flights for SYD are both the emptier ones.

Finally you can also consider roundabout solutions if J is the goal. SIN - HND is often available as is HKG - TYO. MNL is as well but from MNL it's Jetstar.

I have a flight credit which is missing my middle name (from a domestic booking so didn't add it), and I'm trying to use it for an international flight so I need it to match my passport. Is it possible to get my middle name inserted either before or after the booking is made?

Flying to the USA so want to be as cautious as possible with name on this booking.

I recently used a QF “Care” voucher from an international flight that had my full name.

Booking a QF Dom flight, I was able to remove middle name when I got to the PAX details. I believe I could have included my middle name at that point if it had been missing and I thought it was required.

It looks like I can't edit any of the flight credit PAX details when I get to the details page. Not even phone number.

You might have to call QF then if it won’t let you add middle name…..

As long as the advanced passenger information, and check-in, have your full details including middle names, the ticket itself is unlikely to be a problem.
