Thank you for your loyalty

Agree! See my post above with an extract from the QANTAS Website. Can you be a P1 if you already have LTP?
Yeah mate definitely, P1 is still a step above LTP, so if you achieve the SC earn you'll be upgraded.

So they programmed "Take the loyalty credit and add it to the lifetime total, then subtract the same amount from the lifetime total"

rather than programming <nothing>. As in, "Don't add the loyalty credit to lifetime total"

I offer my services to Qantas IT to save them programming time.
I think we are seeing the real reason QF back tracked their DSC and LT reversal. Their interns couldn't churn out the code in time.

Well, if you look at the way it is presented, they show you your lifetime status (say 2000), followed by already earned (1900) plus earned this year (100)

How else do you reconcile the bonus e.g. 50 SC? 2000 = 1900 + 150?

Sorry, not sure if I follow what you are saying.

I don't watch my lifetime progressive (no point -I got LTG maybe 12 years ago and LTP is  ) and I only check that annual is >1200 close to the end of my year (end February). So this is me now

But others who do watch both totals said that their 'Already earned' total decreased by the amount of the bonus, which was then added on (net zero movement), as the bonus doesn't count for lifetime.

So the bonus shouldn't be reconciled.

Or have I misunderstood? @DejaBrew ? Grovelling apologies if I have.

But hey, I just realised that I'm only a bit over 150SCs shy of halfway to LTP! That'll be something to celebrate. Not.

Just looking at my totals and I can confirm that my reported number of SC already having been earned prior to the start of my current member year is 150SC lower than it actually was. The SC earned for this member year include the 150SC given as part of the "thank you" gift and this then equals out the LT status number. In other words, whilst they've clearly fudged the numbers, my LT status total is exactly what I'd expect it to be at this point in time.

What I don't understand is why they didn't just program these SC to be the same as the carryover SC you get from PC+? My actual SC earn for the year (for the purposes of annual status earn/retain) is 100SC more than what is reflected in the "Earned this year" total displayed for LT status. Clearly they have a way to program it in without resorting to fudging the numbers. All very strange.

You know, you could have been more considerate and had fewer SC to make the numbers easier, but anyway....

So, you have 37,413 LSC comprising of 35,869 SC and have earned 1,544 this year.

If QF gifted you 150 SC which they didn't want to count to the Lifetime SC:

If they said you now have 37,413 LSC comprising of 35,869 + 1,694 earned this year then the maths no longer adds up

What they did was fudge the number so you have 37,413 LSC comprising of 35,719 + 1,694 earned this year

I suppose the other option which @DejaBrew mentioned is simply to have the earned this year not match with your SC running total for this year so on one part of the website you have 1,544 SC and on another you have 1,694 SC. I didn't think about PC+ but I figured there was probably some logical reason for wanting the lifetime calculation to align with the running total.
