I do not hold Gold and really have no opinion ; if the market tanks, gold will spike, that's a given.
Why hold gold unless you expect the financial fabric to tear ?
We will have a correction sometime and we will also have recovery.
You will lose nothing , even in a major correction , unless you panic and join the lemmings at the door…... I have already lived through a few..
Basic , staple equities that will survive to fight another day have to be a better bet than gold , IMnsHO…...

Just putting all the factors together before deciding whether to invest in a junior gold explorer or not - a fair few factors in this one including that they will probably need to do a cap raise shortly.

Anyone read the CBA Annual Report? It is a big read.
One of our companies cracked a mention in largest holders of hybrids this year as we waited for investment ideas.

The next lot of key U.S. economic data gets released at 10.30pm SYD time on Friday 29th Aug - U.S. Core PCE data - which is the key indicator the U.S. Fed prefers to use to guide them. I guess we will find out a few things - but maybe not all of these :)
- how well the U.S. economy is going
- how loyal the new statistics guy is to Trump
- how long the new statistics guy is likely to keep his job

I think US economic figures will have as much reliability as Chinese figures soon.

The Chinese figures will probably be more reliable as the Chinese only need to make sure that their figures aren't "bad" - whereas the U.S. will be needing to make theirs into a "Beautiful Set of Numbers - the Best numbers that the U.S. economy has ever had since numbers were invented" - etc etc.

The new statistician might become known as the "Chief Turd Polisher" soon...

One of the interesting things over there is that the president etc. gets briefed on the numbers the day before they are released - which means that he and family and friends could sell holdings or take short positions before the market finds out any bad numbers - or the CTP could be told to go back and polish the numbers some more.

I would hold an investment in a Junior Gold explorer as a similar risk to taking the odds on the footy tonight..
I was burned comprehensively ( along with my broker) by a gold explorer many years back and will never revisit the genre..

I bought Ramelius Resources (RMS) today. Probably late to the party.
Also bought Amcor (AMC).

I think that we have probably all been burned by junior explorers - in my case it was an oil explorer that kept putting the drill bit into the wrong place in Alaska.

The one I am looking at is finding gold at the moment - its now a question of if they hit a spot that has high enough grades that will make a mine successful - obviously if the U.S. economy falls over and gold goes to US$4000 or $5000 per ounce then they don't need to find quite as high a grade to make a mine possible. Time will tell.
