Everyday Rewards Targeted Offers

I may get another dog one day, but when I had one i never bought supermarket pet food.

Its like the other offer at the moment for skin care, the supermarket doesn't sell anything I use.

One would think they look at what I do buy and send offers for a competing brand or something product adjacent i.e. I always buy x brand sparkling water see if you can tempt me over to Y brand; or I always buy salad dressing see if you can upsell me salad toppers (those packs of crispy onions or sesame seeds) or salad ingredients from the veg section. Or I occasionally buy canned soup see if you tempt me to the more expensive refrigerated soup.

As usual I wont bite until something is relevant; i dont like having large stockpiles of stuff as I dont have a garage to store it and dont like risking food items expiring before they can be eaten, hence I hate those 2 for 1 bread specials - just make the loaf half price.

They don't want to make the bread half price.
A lot of the bread is sale/return. Anything that isn't made in store (at stores with in store bakeries) or Frozen/thawed is generally delivered each day by tip top/buttercup. Woolworths only pays the supplier on sale/return items for what has been sold. Anything unsold is taken back the next day. The contracts with the suppliers allow for upselling of more items for the same price, but not for selling less items for a lower price.
I also often get offers that aren't going to happen. Wanting a weekly spend that isn't feasible. Wanting me to buy things I have never shown any interest in getting.
Their system isn't smart enough to work out that you got washing detergent last week which will supply you for at least the next 6 months, so there is little reason to promote washing detergent to you again next week.

They’re not Target US, but then again, be careful what you* wish for… ;)
