MsP has a chilli allergy. Seriously, we tried training her in the womb too. worked for masterP. Anyway she always asks before ordering at a restaurant but still gets caught (lied to).

How badly does it affect her

It really depends on the type of chilli and she says there is even a chilli that gives her no problems at all. I think it leaves her with swollen lips and at worst constricted airway. She's lived overseas since covid started (thanks to the government) so I am a bit out of touch. I think she carries an epipen when going to new destinations but I don't think ske has needed to use it.
I think the reaction time is very short so mostly she simply stops eating and then tears strips off the staff. She is not backward at coming forward.

I've got the flu. I actually got into see a GP at my clinic this morning. Everything hurts, including my hair. Now I have pills and OTC stuff and a few days off work.

My nose is running like a tap.

I wore a mask when I went outside to the GP, the pharmacist and the supermarket. 😷 And now I won't need to go outside for a few days.

When my cramps re appear I increase my salt intake. Works quickly. I will even just have salt by itself. When you need it I find the taste seems pleasant.

When is salt never pleasant? It tastes great. I do not feel comfortable eating any food without me adding salt. Wife has learned to cook without adding salt so I can add salt.

P.S. In Thailand I add salt to my icy cold beer. That is my own version of electrolyte as I lose a lot of salt on the golf course.

P.P.S Adding salt to the icy cold beer actually makes me feel better as I've been known to get headaches etc dehydrating.

Good suggestion. Tried walking stick but doesn't help me.
I hope you gave it more than a week. I began using a walking stick in early April. Has improved until at least the last 2 weeks when I have reached 90000 steps per week.
Though I am a fellow who could be called Brian.

Empagiflozin?
Colchicine. It is an oral, plant-based prescription alkaloid derived from the dried seeds of the autumn crocus or meadow saffron. Used to treat gout and also to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular death in adults with heart disease or at high risk of developing it (Lodoco tablets). I emailed the cardio just 5 days after our consult and he reponded to make a telehealth consult if I 'wanted to discuss', so it cannot be considered important. I won't be calling.

I am unsure about posting my progress, but I have been ticking a few boxes lately; steadily pushing the
boundaries and reaping the everyday benefits of feeling fit and well.
5k walks this winter solo have run about 9.50/km on good going and around 10.50 / walking the dog.
Distances have steadily ramped up to about 14k/week at pace ( aiming for 20 …)
Max hr achieved has steadily improved and arthritic pain levels are almost 0 when warmed up.
A set of stairs cold will still make me wince , no escaping reality….

Monday is my long day , so yesterday was total of 15.km ; morning walk was 10.07km/altitude gain 212m/ pace 10.20km/ max hr 160 !!
This undulating track has a killer hill that steadily gets steeper, I eventually failed to get to the top as I got a bit lightheaded and decided discretion usurped valour.. Later in the day another 4k walking the dog.
This morning after a Nurofen and 11 hours sleep I feel ready to go again….
I have my annual appt with the cardiologist coming up and will ask about pushing beyond my age based hr limit of 152

Point of the story : If an Octogenarian like me with almost no knee cartilage can stay fit and active others can also .

Didn't give it more than 1 week.

I think you're doing great. There's no way I'm doing 13,000 steps per day. I walk 100 metres and I need to stop. Yes I can push myself to do that everyday but that'd be torture.

Also I was feeling sorry for myself having to move out of apartment but God had other plans.

I now struggle badly to walk up 29 steps to our current apartment. Can be just as bad walking down too. We were rejected on at least 15 rental applications in May and June and the one that was successful has only 7 steps. I keep thinking back to meeting the young Lass at the inspection and something didnt feel right. We were successful in less than 24 hours. Now I understand. Almost as if an angel was involved.

We get the keys in 2 days and move in after 7 days. We're now in flat part of Toowong. I'm going to try and walk around the block once each day and see how I go.

That's pretty impressive mileage @tgh . Based on age, say 80 and an exercise intensity of 70% you should be aiming for an optimal heart rate; 220 - 80 x 0.7 = 98. Am I missing something?

That’s limited mobility but in this case I don’t understand how you can continue to play golf?

I think (thought) theoretical max was 220- (80x0.7) which is 164 +/- 20 and that the advisory or optimal 70% was just a feel good number for aspirants.
The gp knows me pretty well well and said no limits, push as hard as you like…..
Post op I was only achieving 130 on woosy little hills but as the fitness has ramped up so has the achievable heart rate.
The light headedness yesterday I took as a sign of my functional limit atm.
I guess the cardiologist may have an opinion , I will arrive armed with my blood pressure graphs an a screen shot of one of my walks that shows the heart rate increases with stress and quickly recovers.

Cynics view : why bother, you will likely die soon from something else….
