So you can buy a ticket, for example, King Island to mainland on Sharp connecting to a Qantas service, all on one ticket.

Does that mean Sharp and/or Qantas will protect you on such tickets if you misconnect due to delays? What about checked baggage transfer? (Likely means the most restrictive allowances, viz Sharp, will apply, or possibly delayed carriage of bags compared to passenger)

I've taken Sharp from Hobart to Flinders Island when they did that route with a government subsidy. Shame it has stopped, and we can only fly from LST now... It would be great if they let you earn SC and points as part of this deal but as they are a monopoly, assume that won't happen!

also need to get from Essendon to Tullamarine

So, am I right in thinking the only place this is actually useful is via LST? Ah, I see there’s one QF flight a day to BWT as well.
Seems a bit of a nothingburger.

…And I’ve already booked VA to MEL then SH from MES to FLS, for December.

Still have to collect luggage and check in again at LST. Sharp also operates from their own terminal at LST, it's walkable but not the same building

I'd say it's more about QF selling the ticket - people won't be thinking about the required logistics on the day when they're booking their trip, and it's a lot easier than trying to marry up flight timings manually especially when you get flight cancellations and changes (which are far more likely on Sharp).

As for getting between MEL and MEB, it's about half the time in a uber/cab compared to transferring between SYD T1 & T2/3, so not a big deal at all. People will work it out on the day,
