You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

A long time ago now, but recalled recently…

Sitting in 1A after being upgraded yet again and the Captain paxing sitting in 1B introduced himself and said you must fly a lot with us, you are sitting in my seat.

Later in the flight I was invited to sit in the jump seat for the landing into PER.

The second "upgrade" to the jump seat was, of course, the pax-ing captain's way of getting into "his" seat for landing :P

Ok spill the beans.
Finalised my Oman Air trip to Europe in June next year via my travel agent from an overnight email ( I’m in Europe) before CoB their time.

To match with that final return date (which got a bit complicated - see my recent post on Oman Air), then booked Paris to Lisbon on KLM using Virgin Atlantic miles (I may need to cancel this).

Then booked Lisbon - Zürich on TAP using Air Canada miles.

You enter an airport, airline lounge or hotel and have deja vu without remembering when you were last there.

When your co-workers ask if you are going away the day you return and inadvertently bring your roller office case to work!

  • When you get really excited for an upcoming trip/s (more so than anything else that's happening in your life otherwise).
  • When you get invited to trivia event(s) solely for your knowledge of airline and airport IATA codes, aircraft models etc, rather than what you bring socially or otherwise to the table
  • When you get asked on Live Chat "Are you in the Travel Industry" after using GDS lingo when asking for itineraries/eTickets to be emailed to you

When it crosses your mind that another Middle Eastern war, with its consequent death and destruction, might not be altogether quite such a bad thing as it could save you the cancellation fee for an award flight you no longer needed.

When your company uses a travel agent owned by an airline you don't use, and they ask you to change airlines once you achieve high status with your preferred airline!

You raise a sweat making sure you get a seat in the "Skybus"/Airtrain/etc. adjacent to the door so you can make a quick exit without having to wait behind those hauling their bags off the racks before you can get away.
Sorry Serfty, as my hair colour denotes age, the driver asked politely could a woman go upstairs . She asked Why? He said an elderly woman’s seat you are taking up, please move. She said no, and a kind older lady said she would go. I dont ask to be of 73 years young, but the ignorance of the young still leaves me wanting to belt the living daylights out of them. I hope you take the seat on the right hand side of the door situated in the middle of the bus?

I'd always take that seat if available, but being old enough to be compliant with the age qualification criteria for a pension (OAP), I have little qualm in taking a seat to the left of the rear door.
