QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask, but I have requested some business class tickets to be released on Monday (when everyone was ringing the call centre to get some bookings in before the "enhancement"). From the Qantas manage booking page those tickets are still shown as Requested after 48 hours. Do we know normally how long does it take to get the result?

When I made the request, the agent over the phone did tell me I should get an email of the result from Qantas within a few mins to a couple of hours but I've got nothing yet.

I requested 2xJ MEL-NRT return for March-April (with the return just inside the school holiday window). No luck on the immediate/bot release, however the agent requested dates either side and alternate routings and sent off for manual review. Was told they'd look at it either Tuesday but more than likely Wednesday (yield management had a public holiday on Monday).

I got the email yesterday afternoon and called up today to have it ticketed. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of a backlog - however if you haven't heard by tomorrow afternoon I'd put a call in. My booking still redeemed at the pre-enhancement rate, despite it being ticketed well after the changeover.

You should have it by now. If the flights still show as Requested you are out of luck. (They'll switch to Confirmed when successful)

If you call back to make further requests, ask them to reuse the same PNR ... this should ensure you pay the 'old' rates.

Reporting back for some data point.

I rang on Wednesday and the agent said it is still with the bot. So I asked her to help with a couple of other dates and the bot rejected all of them including the ones she said were still pending.

Funny enough I got an email from Qantas a couple of days later saying there has been an update regarding my reward requests and I need to ring within 7 days. So I rang and the agent told me it was probably a delay in the system but the bot result remains as rejected. I asked her to put the dates through for me again and see if I can get different results, she then told me from her end she can see that there is no reward availability for the dates and city pairs I requested.

I thought the agents don't really have any visibility and it is all up to the bot to decide?

It sounds like the agent put through the requests again and got rejected for all requests.

For those needing 3xJ, what has been your experience in getting them released, on international route? How about Y+, Y, or even F?

Hit and miss for J.

I’ve had I9 rejected across many days including less sought after sectors (CGK) but approved at I5 in school holidays (HNL) and I3 in school holidays and ski season (HND). 🤷‍♂️

To be fair, these examples are probably outliers.

I think your chances mostly come down to route and timing.

I’ve not been able to get LHR, SIN, CDG, JNB (haven’t tried since upgrade to A380), or SCL.

Can’t comment on Y+ and when I’ve requested Y for international it’s been to NZ and that’s generally all been approved. ZQN being the only one I’ve had declined.

Unrelated to seat release but I’ve noticed some OW airlines seem to restrict to a maximum of 2 award seats. Looking at you MH and CX! But sometimes if you grab 2, another one or two appear.

Aside from the risk of being on different PNR’s it’s a game of chance because after snapping two seats, there’s no guarantee the third one will appear.
