Bali Flights Cancelled due to Lewotobi Volcano

Flight rescheduled to 7:15 am but the air crew trying to change it to 10 am as no manpower to check in that early in morning apparently. Waiting to hear.

It’s heading west and due to the sheer size of the eruption this might persist for a bit, wind depending. I doubt anyone will be flying tomorrow.

Always happens right on School Holidays!

My flight's just been cancelled as well. JQ's only reroutes offered are tomorrow, which will see me miss a connection elsewhere in Indonesia. Time to call insurance, it seems...
After talking to insurance, managed to get one of the last seats on a QZ flight out today. Hopefully the cost will only be the excess, and hopefully will make the connection tomorrow if DPS is still operating. Taxiid past what was probably the original ride on the way... Pax behind me claimed her rebooked seat was $1000 and it went up to $1900 for what must have been the very final seat.

I’m waiting for the evening media pretend news airport grabs of xx airline just ruined my holiday, It’s all the airline’s fault, I’m broke and I don’t have any insurance, why isn’t Albo here to help me, sob, sob, grr, grr.

Bingo! And landed safely. Looks like everything is back up and running and people are getting their holidays underway
You’re braver than I, taking QZ.
Obviously extenuating circumstances forced the decision.

You survived, so there’s obviously that, but otherwise, how was QZ?

Not sure if I will turn it into a trip review but with some of the other flights on this itinerary, QZ is probably a walk in the park!

QZ was your typical LCC - not much difference perceived vs Cebu Pacific, Nok air, Lion etc. Won't jump to the top of my list but yes, pleased I got there safely. Would usually do JQ or scoot if there's no non-LCC options due to the perceived safety culture of their parent groups, but would do QZ again if I had to.

SQ and safety culture don’t go in the same sentence. Offtopic but there’s a bit about it in the Ask the pilot thread, from years ago, now.

You will probably find Scoot and SIA have slightly different cultures. I know a Scoot Captain (ex Ansett) and he advised many Australians, Brits, South Africans reside in Management/Training Department. SQ is only locals from memory. SIA offloaded all the expats during the pandemic who didn’t have permanent residency.
