brilliant - thanks! Aldi is a good one, likewise the PO.
- Meeting a credit card minimum spend
- Circumventing credit card surcharges at places like ALDI
- Paying bills at Australia Post
Paying council rates as they do not accept Amex and you don’t get their pointsThanks! What are these cards best used for?

I bought a Beauty card a while back and have been annoyed to find there was still a surcharge when I used it.

Just a point of reference. These do seem to credit Flybuys but not Coles+ bonus points
Do these need to be used over the counter to pay rates? From what I understand they are no good for online purchases. (eftpos gift cards from last week, not the Village/LE cards)Paying council rates as they do not accept Amex and you don’t get their points
Yep. At the council office.Do these need to be used over the counter to pay rates? From what I understand they are no good for online purchases.
These are magnetic cards on paper cardboards, so you need to swipe on the EFTPOS terminal, press SAV, then PIN. Which also means that you are correct in that these cannot be used for online purchase. Just like EFTPOS cards from banks without MC / Visa, are not accepted online.Do these need to be used over the counter to pay rates? From what I understand they are no good for online purchases. Yes no use online but there are lots of bills you can pay at Australia Post (though some try to enforce a no giftcard rule)Do these need to be used over the counter to pay rates? Thanks to HamBoi69 on OzBargain for the photo.
Make sure you open up your Apple gift cards before you pay for them to check for signs of tampering:

Excellent, thanks for the info - I'm using an Amex Edge too, so looking at using these cards for the same reason. I only got 5 cards this time, but will be sure to grab more next time the offer swings around. I've only got one card (NAB Q Rewards Signature) that earns money on govt spend, and the fees are getting higher, so good to find other ways to earn points on some of the govt expenses (like council rates, govt owned utilities etc).Yes no use online but there are lots of bills you can pay at Australia Post (though some try to enforce a no giftcard rule)
Although it seems a pretty ordinary offer, it works for me at 2 points/$ (3 Amex Edge MR+1FB). Given its not spectacular, there seemed to be plenty of cards to buy (I am lucky to have a kindly Australia Post in my work building so easy to liquidate cards)
