I am a retired Australian living in NY with most income from the USA. Can I still apply for the Qantas card? Do not have payslips only bank deposits .

Congratulations, you have access to far better cards in the US. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't bother with Aus cards

Do you have a suggestion for card in the US?

It depends on your end goal, but in the US, Amex, Citi and Cap1 can all transfer direct to QFF.

Many US cards have access to better points currencies than QFF though - for example Alaska MileagePlan, Air Canada Aeroplan and AAdvantage. Each of these programs have their nuances (both positive and negative) so I'd highly recommend investing a couple of hours into researching those three programs and their respective award partners.

While on this subject ,anyone had recent success getting a cc whilst retired and on an income from superannuation and investments?

P2 recently applied for an Amex QF Ultimate card, these were the income verification options given to her:

A recent pay slip that shows your last 3 months' worth of income
Most recent Notice of Assessment from the Australian Tax Office (please blank out your Tax File Number)
Contract of employment (if employed for less than 90 days)
A letter from your Registered Accountant on a Company Letterhead (if self-employed)
Latest superannuation statement confirming your closing balance (if retired)

Thank you will have a look. I fly three time a year home on QF3. (four this year) Which I find easier from JFK. I have worked up to Platinum so get the first class lounge etc. Would just like to get as many points to get upgrades I appreciate your help with this .

I don't know if QF opens many QF3/4 award seats to OW partners, so my advice around other programs is perhaps less applicable if you already have QFF WP.

This is becasue QFF points would be more valuable in your situation, as you can request award seats be opened. There is no guarantee this will happen but the good news is you can make these requests without the necessary QFF points in your account. Then you transfer points in from the likes of Amex or Citi if the request is successful.
