Paper towels enhanced from lounges?

On my most recent flights I noticed empty tissue boxes in both MEL J lounge and SYD QP. I also observed that the two hand dryers in the gents in the MEL J lounge are placed too closely together for two people to comfortably use them simultaneously unless said gents are rather good friends...

What also doesn't make sense with this setup in the J lounge is you wash your hands at the sink. Then go to the dryer by the door and then back to the sink if you want some hand moisturiser.

Remember the old days onboard in J where instead of paper towels they had a light white fabric single use cloth to dry one's hands?

At least so far no one has blamed sustainability for the demise of the hand towels.

I should have taken a photo of the sign in the PER Dom J lounge men's toilet hand washing area. I'm pretty sure it mentioned sustainability.

It's right above the Dyson hand dryers, if anyone's in the area ...

Also provided feedback to state that missing paper towels was not an enjoyable experience, got this response:

We sincerely apologise that paper towels were not available in the bathroom during your visit. We understand how frustrating and inconvenient this would have been particularly whee hand dryers don't offer the same practicality for personal care.

We want our lounges to provide a consistently comfortable and well-equipped environment, and it's clear we missed the mark on this occasion. Please know that we take your feedback seriously and will review this matter to ensure that our staff dedicate enough time to these tasks to avoid similar situations moving forward. Your experience highlights an area where we must improve, and we truly appreciate you bringing it to our attention.

I think we should each make a bit of a group effort to provide this feedback every time we are let down by lack of paper towels. It only took a couple of minutes on the app to do it, and if we start a bit of a trend of complaints on this topic, well, at least they will know that we are not happy.

I mean they do seem to be implying they’re meant to be there in these replies
I agree with you.

But the sign placed where the hand towels used to be in my photo upthread seems to be suggesting that the hand towels have been intentionally enhanced to oblivion, and we should all use the hand dryer. Ah Qantas! Consistently inconsistent™️.

Just in MEL Business Lounge, and once again, no paper towels. I’m actually quite sick of this now. So I sent the following feedback via app. Let’s see what they say this time.

“Once again, there are no paper towels in the Ladies Room at Business Lounge in MEL.
It seems like these are being deliberately removed/withheld as it has now happened in CBR,SYD and MEL.
Hand dryers are not a pleasant experience. They have many annoying aspects such as:
Noisy
Circulate germs
The ones in MEL are inappropriately close to each other meaning only one person can use at a time - wastes time.

Paper towels have many other uses. For example, blotting my lippy, cleaning up a messy child, washing my face, wiping my mouth after cleaning my teeth, etc.
at least MEL had 1 single packet of tissues. Which most people seem to be using to dry their hands. I am clearly not the only one unhappy with the removal of paper towels.
This is NOT a premium lounge experience. It’s cheap and nasty.
Bring back paper towels please!”

And here are the photos I attached. Not a paper towel in sight. And lots of tissues in the rubbish bin.

Plus you would be shoulder to shoulder, all but hand to hand if 2 people tried to use these hand dryers.
