The view or two from my "office"

We have only been here half a day so far but it seems lovely. The only trouble is they have used our arrival as a chance to close down and rebuild half the tram system.
Which is a shame because the trams are so great. One of the things that amazed me was there was no guard rails. You just walked across the street and got on the tram. Not like a nanny Adelaide.

They are putting in two completely new tramlines and doing a lot of work to repair and stabilise the historic Pont de Pierre. It is currently only open for foot and bike traffic. Lines A, C and D are affected around the bridge area. It all seems very worthwhile and is scheduled from 2 June - 31 August. But why when we are here😀

The trams aren't the problem it's the bikes and scooters coming from every direction and at speed that worry me.

Illogan cemetry Cornwall - not somewhere I expected to find Australian service people buried

There are Australians buried in the Illogan churchyard because they were members of the Royal Air Force stationed at RAF Portreath (Nancekuke) during World War II. The churchyard contains war graves, including those of Canadians, Australians, New Zealanders, and Polish airmen. These personnel served at the RAF station and were buried in the designated war graves area, which also includes a woman. The area was established in 1950 with hedges and a Cross.

I will post more photos of the headstones here Malta Sicily Belfast Cornwall and a few others in between in case anyone recognises a family name

Part of the extremely long Bordeaux waterfront. Taken from the Pont Jacques Chaban Delmas. This was at around 22:30.

The bridge is a "vertical lift bridge". The four illuminated pillars have huge cables and winches which lift the central deck of the bridge straight up. The Azamara Forward, formerly the Pacific Princess, passed under it yesterday - we missed it.
