Correct.I assume "register then book" mean existing bookings dont qualify for the double xx_??
However, if you have any Flex or Bus fares, you can simply cancel them and rebook to take advantage of this (just ensure no fare differences).

With the caveat that these were originally booked after April 2nd 2025.Correct.

It’s on the appThat's an old link that I posted, ignore that (previous targeted link).
We are waiting on the correct activation link, as this one is for everyone, by the looks of the terms.
Aware of that. This was an old post before it was made publicly available, day of launchI’ve decided to “give up” Velocity Gold. Had the unusual opportunity during Covid to have Gold for both QF and VA (both self funded). Not worth it for domestic travel to maintain Velocity even with DSC promo.

Their loads are pretty darn good and despite all the naysayers I still reckon there will be plenty who retain Platinum or gain Platinum Plus this year.So much for getting that extra cash and those forward bookings before the IPO, eh?
But there'll be a lot less status holders.Their loads are pretty darn good and despite all the naysayers I still reckon there will be plenty who retain Platinum or gain Platinum Plus this year.
Yes I do think they have skewed it a bit far but at the end of the day they are rewarding their loyal customers and there will still be plenty of those IMO but if it doesn’t work out then they can always rejig it
Oops, I thought I deleted that comment. Didn’t mean to do a double postAware of that. This was an old post before it was made publicly available, day of launch![]()
I’d be happy with less people in the lounges, far too overcrowded currently. But there'll be a lot less status holders.
They've clearly stated that in interviews that this is their goal.
More room in the lounges for the more frequent loyal flyers.
So any way you look at it, there will be less status holders with VA which means less $$.
Some will try alternate carriers, at least try them for a while, some will stay away some will return, anyway you look at it less $$ on the bottom line.
Of course many out there don't even know things have changed and don't care and will continue to fly VA, although I suspect many of those aren't WP. Many WP and SG are disenfranchised now. Status runs gone with the dodo. Less $$ in coffers.
Also the amount of current WPs that will go onto WP+ would be a micro %.
I've received many more VA emails advertising this and that recently.
Seems desperate for $$$.
Hell of a lot cheaper to just buy lounge access now than seek SG/WP. Can’t see lounges getting quiet any time soon.I’d be happy with less people in the lounges, far too overcrowded currently.
Status has been far too easy to earn in the past and although I do think they have probably gone a bit too far the other way it should at least sort the wheat from the chaff now

True, $5k or 10k for SG or WP respectively per year now..... Virgin lifetime lounge access can be bought for $9,750.Hell of a lot cheaper to just buy lounge access now than seek SG/WP. Can’t see lounges getting quiet any time soon.
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Except that lounge access now comes with the Velocity Amex card and many more people will get that than have status, I reckon, which still makes the lounges crowded.I’d be happy with less people in the lounges, far too overcrowded currently.

That only gives you lounge access for 1 within Australia, not with international partners, and if you aren't flying that often, I can't imagine many justifying the cost of buying single domestic lounge access, better just putting that money into food and drink at the airport, for many non FF's I'd say.Hell of a lot cheaper to just buy lounge access now than seek SG/WP. It was in the context of VA domestic lounges ie flying VA.That only gives you lounge access for 1 within Australia, not with international partners, and if you aren't flying that often, I can't imagine many justifying the cost of buying single domestic lounge access, better just putting that money into food and drink at the airport, for many non FF's.
Yep, I agree with the inconsistency, no doubt about that. I guess that's the downside of not joining an alliance. It was in the context of VA domestic lounges ie flying VA.
The inconsistent benefits flying whY with partner airlines isn’t worth the cost for most moving forward either.
I dunno, that often gets brought, but there's a lot of complaints in the Qantas forum about inconsistencies within the alliance as well. Most recently of Cathay Pacific citing "overcrowding" to stop people going into certain lounges and the situation at Bangkok airport.Yep, I agree with the inconsistency, no doubt about that.
