Ryanair Scraps Planned Boeing Order

Ryanair has scrapped earlier plans to order up to 200 Boeing 737-800s, a deal that should have been a major boost for Boeing at the bottom of the economic cycle.

The decision comes as a consequence of Ryanair's more fundamental strategic decision to halt its rapid expansion course earlier than planned, although the airline attributes the decision to a disagreement over terms of conditions of the order.

It has more to do with the fact they're running out of profitable growth options.

I'm sure boeing arent about to give them away on the terms Ryanair wants. Knowing full well they're not rushing over to airbus in any hurry anyway.

What was boeing's 73H backlog again ? - i'm sure they're not too worried.

Probably Ryan were expecting the order backlog at Boeing to collapse with the GFC and all. As the order book seems to have held up quite well, Boeing probably hasn't seen the need to bend to Ryan's demands.

It's not as if FR can go to another dealer to buy the Boeing aeroplanes from ; if they don't like Boeing's terms, then tough.

I think that FR didn't really want to buy at this time and are using an excuse to get publicity whilst blaming Boeing for the issue

Noticed how nothing is ever Ryanair's fault. You wouldn't want to be a small supplier to them.

Maybe they were jsut unhappy with the way the aircraft handled icing on taxiways?

... or they are spending the money on retraining the crews of the aircraft they already have :!:

They could always borrow the AA Captain and 1st Officer, currently on hols in Jamaica, to help out....................

Cheers Dee

It was interesting to read the Financial times interview with the Ryanair CEO last weekend. The Boeing issue was discussed. But i really liked his view on business cliches-
the customer is always right-Horsesh*t they are always wrong.
Your staff are your best asset-Bullsh*t they are your biggest cost.
Hope I never feel i have to fly Ryanair.
