Flew home to Melbourne from Perth yesterday on QF802 and thought I would report on the new A330 flying that route now - I believe it started about a month ago. Word of warning here before I talk about the travel experience - getting to the airport and bag drop off was a long drawn out process given the construction site at the airport at the moment - so if travelling prior to Christmas holidays give yourself extra, extra time and definitely do online check in! Anyway, onto the travel report. Boarding was pretty smooth - 59 rows on this aircraft with the last row having a 2-2-2 set up - the best seats are the middle two as they have a console between them for drinks etc - just like business class on some airlines! Leg room I think the same as the other Y rows. The Y cabins set up is 2-4-2 but it does taper off at about row 56 to 3 in the middle. I think the aisles are narrower than other aircraft - lots of bumps from the cabin crew and other passengers. Flight time to Melb was 3 hours which was great and the lunch was actually very nice - fish with wild mushroom sauce or chicken with some other kind of sauce. Highlight was the IFE individual screens - boy did that keep the punters happy! The prerecorded introduction said there were 300 entertainment options! Aircraft so new you can almost smell it! Very pleasant to travel on this aircraft though I think the legroom might have shrunk a bit. I also have noticed after flying this route for about 10 years now that with the higher incidence of mature male flight attendants the behaviour of some travellers has definitely improved!

It's good that QF are again bringing back personal screens IFE on the PER to east coast routes. It's a long enough route that having AVOD is a real plus...

Totally agree with you - long overdue because it a longflight especiall to Perth when strong head winds are the norm

And even more routes as the new 73H's enter service.
Agree, such a great move.

Yep, recently flew MEL-AKL on ZK-ZQC and return on ZK-ZQA, both with the seatback AVOD touchscreen IFE - and it's gate to gate (or near enough), was able to squeeze two movies in on the return flight. Makes the flight go so much quicker! :)

Shame about the seat itself ... :-|

Just bumping an old topic, have QF installed Personal IFE on all of their A332's?

I seem to remember seatguru stating that the domestic A332's were overhead screens, but now it states that it is Personal screens.

Thumbs up QF if that is the case:p

I believe the domestic fleet is one of each at the moment. One with mainscreen and one with personal screens

So it is really a lottery when it comes to your chances of getting personal screens?

Are there any patterns on what routes are likely to get these or not?
