On last week's flight, I turned my iphone into airplane mode. My understanding is that it may be used during flight. During descent, I was told not to use it as it interfered with aircraft's radio. But in airplane mode, is using the camera function to take pictures really going to interfere?

I believe that the rules state that anything electrical with an "On/Off" switch must be turned off during take-off and landing.

Will it cause problems if you leave it on and take photos? Possibly. Perhaps. Do you want to take that risk?

There was another thread here a few weeks ago about filming/taking photos during take-off and landing. This thread will end up with the same sorts of comments.

Surely if using a mobile phone was a real risk, they would take the phone off you as you enter and pat you down to ensure you weren't concealing any more....:)

Yep, I thought to myself "FMD, here we go again...".

Look, if policy says switch the bloody thing to OFF, then just switch the bloody thing to OFF. What is the fascination with taking a video/still of every takeoff, passing flight or morsel of food? Some of you obviously haven't flown enough to realise that it's all very, very BORRRRRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNNNG!
