Airbus - Scarebus: Ch 7

The B777 does have similar (maybe the same) ADIRU units. ie the units are not actually manufactured by Boeing or Airbus but are manufactured for Boeing and Airbus. A lot of components are the same or similar between types.

B777's do other exciting things, like have engines that shut down for no apparent reason.

I must admit the 3 minutes I did watch were funny because they were so bad.

Passenger - 'It was unbelievable we had no warning'

Yes the pilots knew it was coming and just thought it would be fun not to warn the pax and cabin crew as a joke.

Passenger - 'Then before I knew it I was pushed out of my seat and pressed up against the celing and I thought to myself why am I on the ceiling?!'

Because you didn't have your seatbelt on as required dumbhead.

:p:D

And then I turned it off hahahah

I am guessing you are referring to the BA038 incident? There were reasons behind that and go-arounds that have been developed.

Modern twin jets are very safe IMHO.

(Yes there are very few carriers who fly quad jets into PER.)

Gotta love the editing as well. Like when the guy from airbus is asked "...until we know the answer to why that's happening how can we possible know your aircraft is safe?", they only show him umming and stuttering to find the correct wording to answer the question, and never actually showed his answer. Classic selective editing. Reminds me of one of my favourite TV shows at the time it was airing ..... "Mike Moore ..... Frontline"

If "fly by wire" was the main objection to the Airbus 330 then why didn't they focus on the A380 and many other ABs?

...

Is the 787 going to be "fly by wire"?
Image when they make an commercial passenger aircraft that is "fly by wireless". Hmm, a 450 passenger Global Hawk variant? How would the media treat that one?

I don't see it happening anytime soon, perhaps not even in our lifetimes...it's not that the technology isn't there or couldnt be refined further to make it safer than a human pilot, but the general public would never accept getting on a plane with no pilot IMO.

Its easy to have someone walk on board wearing a uniform and sit up front for the duration of the flight ;)

LOL @ "Scarebus" being referred to. The nickname is no big deal. Pilots love nicknaming aircraft with something silly. Even Airbus lovers call them Scarebus at times as a joke. You should hear the nicknames given to some other aircraft. They makes Scarebus sound quite tame.

A kinder example being 'one aircraft, four engines, needs six', more harsh examples include the likes of "Flying Sewer Pipe", "Death Cruiser" etc.

I didn't get to watch the programme because I was flying at the time. I guess putting it on as part of QF's IFE wouldn't have been an option.

This all sounds like an infomercial paid for by Boeing. Pity they can't get their own wonderful new "dreamliner" to fly. Dream on.

I wouldn't want to be one of the first paying pax on that aircraft...
