KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes

Spontaneous Escapes just released, and June travel on cheaper flights is another sad month for Aussies. The only flights are SIN-SYD in Economy or Premium Economy, no Business class, and blackout dates on top. Hmmmmm.

Return Business flights between SYD and SIN actually exist this month!

EDIT: HAve I spoke too soon? When I try to book, only waitlist shows SYD->SIN in Business Advantage, across all dates.
This is good, HOWEVER have a look at the blackout dates:

SIN-SYD
1 – 6 August 2023
9 August 2023
12 August 2023
16 August 2023
19 August 2023
22 August 2023
SYD-SIN
1 – 3 August 2023
5 August 2023
12 August 2023
15 – 17 August 2023
19 – 23 August 2023
25 August 2023
28 August 2023
MEL also features, albeit in Y only, and only the MEL-SIN SQ228 service:
1 August 2023
3 August 2023
5 – 7 August 2023
10 – 13 August 2023
17 – 20 August 2023
24 – 26 August 2023
31 August 2023
That's a coughload of blackout dates (more than I've ever seen in any Spontaneous Escapes deal) and quite limited availability. Lucky those that happen to have travel required on a non-blackout date! Go buy a lottery ticket if you fall into this category :)

Thank you SO much for these posts, as it actually helped me! Never would've thought to check KF otherwise as the redemptions are poor value now.

I happened to need to fly MEL-SIN on an appropriate date. I'd been procrastinating booking an economy award on QF for months for other reasons but when I finally decided to book today the availability had gone...thankfully SQ to the rescue (although I would've preferred the earlier arrival in to Singapore, but anyway you can't have it all). It also assisted in saving ~5500 KF miles soon to expire instead of transferring them to VFF at the poor rate (along with some (instantly transferred) AMEX points).

Edit: Only now do I see JQ have a sale and I could've booked with them one way in a max fare for $369....bah humbug. Ah well, don't trust 'em anyway.

Cheers @serfty. Unrelated, but I’m in the middle of tracking availability (prefer Saver) to Europe, next year, and it seems more has become available. Doing the AUS-SIN 5 day search, then the same to preferred Europe destinations to see what matches. Some reasonable availability across some day ranges :). Looking in May at the moment, which a month ago was very limited.

Has SQ released its spontaneous getaway fares for January yet ?
Or do you know of any special offers in Jan from Oz to Singapore ?

Spontaneous escapes usually emerge around the 15th or 16th of the month. I wouldn’t expect too much of interest during January ex-Australia, it tends to be a peak travel month.

Looking at the charts it seems like one could travel between Melbourne and Europe in business class during the spontaneous escapes. For instance, flying from Melbourne to the German capital of Frankfurt on January 15 is just 91,350 Krisflyer miles one-way in business:

You might want to look that one up.
No, OP knows what he is doing. Congratulations on taking the bait. There's been many similar "stretching of the truths" in many threads. All in good fun, I'm sure. I guess Frankfurt may not be the Capital city, but it is the city where much of the capital is in Germany.

If only NAB would process my points transfer I could take advantage of this. Told it takes 6 weeks
You can transfer Virgin points over to Singapore at a rate of 1.55 Virgin Points = 1 Singapore point. I'm not sure if that makes any sense versus booking directly through Virgin Australia.
