US Amex Referral

I am updating my referral links because the other one is expired. These are good until June.

Delta Amex = Currently 40,000 miles for $2000 spend. Not he best offer, a few months ago it was 70k miles. Choose any Amex Delta family card.

Hilton Amex - Currently 130,000 for $2000 spend for the Surpass but you can choose any of the Hilton family Amexes. I like the Surpass because it comes with Priority Pass 10 free lounge visits for $95 annual fee.

Chase Sapphire Preferred - Increased bonus of 80k Ultimate Rewards for $4000 spend in 3 months,, will need at least one year credit history in the US and good Fico.

Chase United Mileage Plus - There are 4 United cards to choose from. I have the Explorer which is currently 50k miles for $3000 spend. One of the best perks of this card is you get expanded access to reward flights on UA that aren't available to partners like SQ or VA or even non credit card holding members.

Chase Freedom - There are 4 cards in the Freedom family all with no annual fee. But you can only transfer these Ultimate Rewards points to airlines if you have a premium card like CSP or CSR. Use them for category spend bonuses like grocery stores 5x then transfer the Ultimate Rewards to the CSP card.

Chase IHG - Currently a whopping 140k points for the Premiere card after $3000 spend with annual free night.

I really appreciate anyone who uses my links! Thank you!

I've just clicked it and it's showing the 60K MR offer - I already have the Green so won't apply for it again. I agree, it's a great card. Thinking about the Gold - it's much more US centric though. Those US MR aren't going to generate themselves!!

It's 60K MR points too rather than the 40K public offer and you can earn back 80% of your AF through statement credits(I've clicked through on the T&C but not really clear on how this works in terms of how I qualify - happy for someone to highlight it to me - apologies in advance if it was right in front of me and I missed it). I think the upgrade to Platinum in a year is a stretch for the AF but a $200 statement credit might make it more palatable. I haven't decided yet. The Gold card's net cost of SUB is $A0.12c vs $A0.7c for the Platinum card according to my rough calculations. I think it's still worth it but not as "exciting" an offer for me.

YMMV.

PS: Just tried to apply - it told me I can't receive the welcome offer (I've had the Green for like 4 years and haven't churned but there you go) so cancelled my application. Interested to hear any theories about what I did incorrectly. Kinda disappointed.

when I clicked the link, it didn't come up with "scott referred you to blah blah". You sure you will get bonus if I apply?
If you apply and are approved, yes.

If you Google Amex popup jail, you'll see many articles speculating on what you can do to get out of it. Truth is no one knows for sure. The best theory is put spend on the card and reapply. How much spend and how long should you wait? No one knows, but I've seen people reporting that putting as little as $1000 on the card and reapplying as soon as those charges post (ie go from pending to charged) have had success. That obviously doesn't work for everyone.

Thanks for the feedback @levelnine appears I have some reading to do. I've been using my Green card quite consistently for years now since I got it. Suspect it might have something to do with my also receiving an "upgrade" offer for less points and no statement credit so they want me to take that offer and not this more generous offer. I'll need to give it some thought. 40K points is better than nothing but like my Green Card too much to give it away for the more expensive and less usable (bonus opportunities in AU) Gold card.

If I were in your position, I absolutely would not upgrade from Green to Gold. Green is the better proposition for most people in Australia.

I would try to put some additional spend on your existing Amex cards and reapply for the Gold on the last day of the current 90K+$200 offer, which is early June I believe (6 June?).

Why is green better then gold in oz ? Gold earns bonus points for restaurant in oz as well .

I’ll give it some further consideration. I suspect as I already have an ‘upgrade’ offer for 40k points, that has disentitled me to the referral offer. Having said that my platinum upgrade is 100K though I’m thinking of getting the Bonvoy Brilliant. I think the AF is outrageous especially when you convert it to $A so that will take a bit of thinking. I might get good value out of the night credits. Got an upgrade at MEL Westin to a pretty cool room (though it was a Tuesday) having used my credit which came with the basic Bonvoy card. I was gold with my Aussie Charge card.

Just an update on my "journey". I had another try yesterday after increasing my spend on the card - I'm still in pop up jail. I noticed there was no upgrade offer to Gold on my online AMEX profile. I also can't find the Gold card on the Amex website - that might explain why I'm in pop-up jail - they're not offering it anymore - although I'm using an active referral link. I think I'll stick with the green. I can't justify the AF for Platinum - works out to $A1c per point for SUB according to my calculations.

Updated referral links for June onwards:
Amex Delta Gold (or other Delta card) 65K/$2000
Amex Hilton Surpass 130k/$2000 (Gold status HH and 10 x Priority Pass visits, can choose other HH card
Chase Sapphire Preferred - Back to 60K/$4000, usually goes up o 80K in April-ish annually
Chase United Explorer (or other United card), 60K/$3000 also gives discount on UA awards and expanded availability.
Chase IHG Premiere140K/$3000, or choose any IHG card. Platinum status, Annual free night

Full details are on the links, you will probably need a US SSN and Fico score to get these cards.
Both Chase and Amex will ship cards to Australia if you call them and tell them you are travelling overseas.

Thank you so much for using my links, I am playing this game alone so every bit helps!

The Amex Delta Gold link is no longer valid as I cancelled the card. All other links are fine. Thanks again!
